Paris Rolex shopping is a bust, but...

What a pathetic situation (as expected), however nearly picked up a 50 fathoms today, may get it tomorrow. Nice experience at the boutique at Vendome. Thoughts?

No. Not from a boutique @ MSRP.

Would need a discount over 40% to even begin to consider.

This is a "settlement" watch for you. You want Rolex, can't acquire, so you will buy something you really don't want, pay too much for it, realize your mistake, try to sell it and you will lose thousands....if you can even sell it.

Pass on the 50 Fathoms in this scenario. Don't go back to boutique. Focus on the Rolex you want. That is money wisely spent.

Was it already on your radar?

Is the premium at the boutique worth it as a souvenir from your trip?

If yes and yes, why not? It’s an absolute classic.

The sapphire bezel on the fifty fathoms is nothing short of mesmerizing. The original dive watch.

You can think the same of a Submariner with respect to the Omega Seamaster, and you can think the same of a Seamaster with respect to a Longines Hydroconquest...

The Blancpain FF is superior to the Submariner. At least I have no doubt.

It is truly a iconic piece, and would be fun to have a story about picking it up in Paris, much to chew on tonight...

Definitely an iconic piece. Which model are you considering? By the way it's your money so spend it as you please, Go in the boutique and ask for a discount, you can always leave and return. Definitely see if you get some price break on the piece.

Absolutely I would need a discount, I'm on correspondence with the associate as I walked out this afternoon. Model - classic 44.5 mm fifty fathoms on sail cloth deployant strap.

That's a tough one, price isn't that bad considering VAT etc... And it's always been on my radar. I should also mention that I was not on a Rolex mission on this trip as I have what I want right now, didn't expect to find a special piece in hiding. That being said, like most of us I have been turning to other manufacturers.

Remember,my wife and I made a conclusion based on MRSP .If you can get the FF at the huge discount some members are referring to or for much less in the pre-owned market, then it becomes a whole new ballgame .

I have had lots of omegas, in fact I was there as well today looking at 57 trilogy etc.. That is nothing I could buy while here, I have too many connections in the gray world for that, but it was nice to see some models in the flesh

Agree with this 100%!

OP be the guy who heeded this advice and buy from the guy who didn’t heed this advice for 50-60% off.

I like the Blancpain fifty fathoms a lot. I almost bought one but didn't because there's no steal or titanium bracelet yet. definitely would check for a good deal on the second hand market if you decide to go for it...

That's why I say don't go back to the boutique.

If you want a souvenir from Paris, get a snowglobe...not a watch you overpaid thousands for compared to the market.

Don't go back to the boutique!

I hear that kind of talk on here a lot. How great is the story, really? I’d rather get something I love every time I look at it than something I can tell a good story about

Okay, let me clarify, I wouldn't be settling just to pick up a new piece, this has been on my radar for a long time, if it wasn't I totally agree 100 percent

Oh, no - nothing against the 50 Fathoms - beautiful watch - no, this was Omega Forum hypnotizing - both times!

:)

First, they bring out the cheap champagne...then they pour it, the next thing you know, you're buying at full retail plus, plus!!!!

I did get two free hats, an Omega Magazine, and a pen along with the deal, though.
