16710 GMT SEL and No LUG Holes
Does anyone know what year they began to put the SEL bracelets on the 16710 GMT's? Were the no LUG holes added the same time the bracelets were? My buddy got a 16710 Pepsi with SEL but he DOES have LUG holes and I have a 16710 with NO lug holes and my bracelet does NOT have SEL's I thought all the NO lug holes had SEL's...... Mine is a Z serial I am not sure what my buddies serial is......

SEL bracelets were introduced on the 16710 sround 2000, iirc. Lug holes disappeared a few years later.
So yes all non lug hole 16710s ought to have either a SEL or jubilee bracelet |

Mines a late F ser. 2004/5 no holes. First year for SELs on a Gmtll was 2000 which I believe is a P ser. no. I'm sure it's also the same for the Submariner as well.

All no-lug-holes cases have SEL
Lug-holes cases have non-SEL mostly, except the early 2000s which have SEL |

16710T = no lug holes.
Look on the clasp of your bracelet, when opened in the inside you will see two letters and a number — that is the clasp code. Google Rolex clasp code and it will give you an idea on when your bracelet (or its clasp) was produced. |

I have a 2003 16710 Coke. SEL and Lug Holes.
I also have a couple of 2004 16710’s and they are both SEL No Lug Holes. |

So I looked up my clasp code.....here is whats interesting, my 16710 is a Z serial which would put that at 2006/2007 production. My Clasp code is OP which puts that as 2006 production. I have a no lug hole case but it has a NON SEL bracelet. I thought I would have SEL's. According to both codes, this is the right years for both items.......

If you take off the bracelet and look at the inner portion of the endlinks, what number is there? 801?
As the 78790A reference is on the clasp, it could be possible that the clasp is not original to the bracelet. Can you post some pics? |

So something has definitely been swapped because that's the reference for the SEL bracelet.

16710 GMT SEL and No LUG Holes

OP, is it possible that you may be getting confused with SEL (solid end link) which is 1 piece that connects to the case of the watch, and solid vs. hollow links? These are not my pictures, but one shows the bracelet you should have, and the other is a close up with the solid end links.
