7928
Trying my luck on the Vintage Forum; any help as to what type of crystal my 7928 has? It doesn't feel like plexi (as my 79090 had) and scratches won't come out with Polywatch.
Thanks! |

It should be a T19 plexi crystal. Hard to tell from the one photo you posted.

Looks like a nice T19 but photo is terrible. Watch looks like it might be a very nice example, but lousy photos ; )

First shot of the second set is great - very nice watch ;) 1964-1965. The text print on the dial is more silver color than the tan of the photos, right?
As for the crystal, looks like a normal dome. Watch phone photos are hard, best quick and dirty advice is to stack some books (or something) to have a firm stand / support 8-10 inches from watch. Use a soft prop to change angle of watch, keep phone in same place. Also good is in shade, next to natural sunlight

Also, if (like the second photo in the second set) it appears out of focus on your phone (especially if you zoom in on it) don’t bother posting it. Just take another photo of it in-focus.
...with more ambient light, if you can. Like...outside. |

Regardless of the photo quality, it's clearly an acrylic crystal, which was the OP's question. If the scratches are too deep, Polywatch alone will not be enough.

Many thanks for the responses! I promise I will work on my photography skills, but good to hear it is an acrylic crystal. What threw me off was the difference with my 79090 Sub or Heuer '64 re-edition which have a Plexi feel to them when tapped on. The crystal on my 7928 feels almost glass like when tapped and I was surprised that polywatch didn't remove the light surface marks (usually get those from brushing against a door frame:). Guess these blemished add character to the watch as it gets (even) older. It's from 1964. I bought a spare FEF390 movement long time ago, but don't have a spare Crystal and perhaps since this one is original to the watch, I am certainly not going to have it replaced or worked on for a few scuffs. Thanks again for the feedback.
