1990 DJ 16233 (?Rhodium) dial identification please . . .

Hi

Can anyone help with the identification of this dial on an E serial number 1990 DateJust 16233?

It is not a Black dial - is it called Rhodium?

The index marks have a rectangular cross section, and not the crown cross section.

It is marked "SWISS MADE T" at 6 and so it is has a Tritium dial, marks and hands.

The clasp is marked O6, ie June 1990, and so the bracelet is contemporary with the watch.

I haven't seen one anywhere online with the same colour, index bars and minute markings.

It was purchased early in 1991 from Hong Kong.

Is this a common dial, a dial for the Hong Kong market, or a special edition?

Many thanks

Reg

Presumably this is only a description of the colour, and it is not actually made of Slate, just like the Champagne dial is not made of Champagne?

So if I wanted to completely describe the watch in official Rolex terminology for an insurance valuation, would it be something like

"1990 E serial 16233 Datejust 36 rolesor fluted bezel slate index dial jubilee O serial oysterclasp"

Have I missed anything, or is there a better convention or order of words to describe it?

Interested to read the discussion of the difference between Chamfered and Bevelled bezel - is this relevant to this watch, or does Fluted cover it here?

Thanks :)

"1990 E serial 16233 Datejust 36 rolesor fluted bezel slate index dial jubilee O serial oysterclasp"

For insurance you will need the entire serial number.

1990 Rolex Datejust, serial number Exxxxxx, Rolesor (bi-metal), fluted gold brezel, slate color dial w/stick indices, Jubilee bracelet ref. 62523H gold/stainless steel.
