16710 internal parts

Thanks, in advance for the perspective—

Purchased a 16710 n serial (1991) last summer.
Was told by a local watchmaker that at least one internal part (rotor bearing axel) is most likely non-genuine.

Here’s the question: should second-hand buyers expect all internal components to be genuine Rolex—and if not, what is the tolerance? Is this the “cost of doing business” with (pre) vintage? Send to RSC for a “proper” check and service / service papers, and pay for any aftermarket parts to be replaced?

It's up to you.

A Rolex movement will work just fine with generic parts. No need to change them unless you want, or unless the watch is faulty.

If you do send it into an RSC, they will not work on it unless you agree to have any non-Rolex parts replaced.

Your watch isn’t that old...

If this is going to bother you, then you’re going to have to commit to servicing exclusively at RSC/ORJ. And when they decide they’ll no longer do so, then what?

If you service with an independent, how far will you go with the OEM thing? Gaskets? Lube? Screws?

Is your goal to keep it in good running order?

Or to keep it all authentic-Rolex at any cost?

Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you for the perspective. And you raise fair questions. I guess I’m just looking for “the line” and I haven’t found it yet. I like the watch and like to wear it. I suppose that would Trump a total-OEM goal in the long run.
