Almost never.
However, I have received several comments from Apple Store Geniuses on the Tudor Black Bay Red and Tudor GMT. |

I sat next to a gentleman on a flight a couple of months ago who was wearing a SD43. I tried to strike up a conversation with him and commented on it and he could not have cared less. Just said “oh yeah my Burberry watch broke so I got this out of the drawer, haven’t worn it in over a year.” Then he put his headphones on and that was the end of that conversation haha!

Burberry watch? He’d wear that over the sd43? Maybe sd43 is fake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

yes! I was very taken back when he said he wore that over the SD43. Different strokes for different folks I guess! From what I could tell just by first look it was real. Or else a really good fake.

Once in NYC waiting in line for a show. A guy said he likes my Hulk. It turned out he was wearing a Ceramic Pepsi.

I love my watches but dress quite casually (hoodies and jeans) and rarely have people notice my watch. I can maybe count on one hand the number of people who have commented.
Those who do say something, generally, are the ones I don't really want commenting on them (think retail sales people looking to make a sale, etc) and have instantly judged me based on 10 seconds of limited interaction... |

When I picked up my DSSD at Mayor’s last Friday, there was a guy in there wearing a Kermit. First time I’d ever seen one in person. We chatted for a few minutes about it.

People notice. But only a select few will bother to tell you or make it obvious that they noticed.

they notice, they just don't say anything. So many times i've caught people looking at the watch. for example when shopping and going to sign a receipt or signature pad, when you look up, almost always they're looking at the watch because it's shiny and eye catching. some pieces (datejust/day-date) are instantly recognizable. They might not say anything but they notice it.
Also, the lazy salesman who stereotypes me because i look young, "oh he doesn't have any money to buy a rolex" and he just sits on his ass because he thinks i'm just "window shopping" but once he "notices" the rolex on my wrist, he certainly gets his fat ass up real fast to offer customer service. LOL! people notice man...they just won't say anything, they'll just silently judge you for your pretentious lavish purchases of luxury watches. If you're fishing for comments....i think it's a waste of time/energy. Buy what u love, wear it, and forget everyone else. |

One time in five years, and it was a quirky designed vintage watch.

I usually wear short sleeve and my current daily wear is a WG DD40. I have the feeling that nobody cares about it, except watch dealers and a few very close friends that like watches, I am very happy about it.

Had my explorer for two years and 4 people noticed it and admired it in that time. Got a 114060 and four people asked me about it in the first day!

What color? I was very close to purchasing a blue while on vacation, left with an OP39 instead. How do you feel about the overall thickness of the watch? |

It used to be that no one cared until 2 co-workers noticed my Kermit and BLNR on two separate occasions this past week.

Commenting: On vacation a lot. Walking around the city no, only in watch stores.
Noticing: A lot more than above. I get glances at the watch then at me for sizing up. It's ridiculous to think people don't notice shiny Rolexes on our wrists. |

Only people who have noticed and commented on my WG black dial GMT “in the wild” are friends and colleagues who are into watches. I think all of them thought it was stainless steel. Only people who commented and identified it as white gold were people who worked in watch stores.

Outside of work, where the guys I see daily wear: SS Daytona (or Platona (occasionally)), full Everose Daytona, Everose Daytona w/leather strap, Hulk, vintage Cartier Santos, Omega Planet Ocean 600, and a Casio, only a couple of times a year (usually someone wearing a nice watch) does anyone notice my watch.
Only exception is my Reverso, which often gets noticed if I flip it conspicuously (deliberately), but otherwise that goes unnoticed, too- which is fine with me. I wear my watches for my enjoyment. |

Yes. Quite often.
I occasionally get compliments. Typically other WIS. Good convos with fellow enthusiasts. I rarely start watch convos with strangers, unless it’s something extraordinary the person is wearing. |

I sometimes get comments on how my Panerai watches look cool. Not recognition of what they are though.... which I actually like. Non "watch people" finding my watch unique and aesthetically pleasing but not seeing it and thinking "luxury product". I think apart from that, my chiropractor has recognized my DSSD and IWC BP for what they are. I could tell he was interested so I offered them over so he could have a good look. He was appreciative and we talked watches for a bit both times. He's interested in a nice watch but hasn't decided on one yet....I think he's going to get a Rolex.
I've actually had a few compliments on my Casio Databank and Seiko Orange Monster but never on my other watches. Prefer it that way! I wear them for me. Especially the Databank! Haha, i wear that for the 7 year old me that really wanted it and never got one. |
