Incoming - Taft Boots

Obviously not something I'm going to be wearing everyday but definitely a pair to punch up a bland outfit from time to time.

First experience with Taft and I usually don't spend $250 on shoes (I enjoy the sale rack!), but for a truly unique pair of boots that are handmade in Spain, I just had to splurge.

Initial thoughts are that these are high quality; the stitching is tight and the materials are excellent. These look even better than I had expected and they feel great out of the box.

Any other Taft fans out there, or fans of other direct-to-consumer boots?

I've been trying to find a nice pair of brown boots for a while and came across Taft. How do they run? Large?

I would say they run about a half size bigger than what I would expect. I'm usually a 9 in Nike running shoes and an 8 in dress shoes / boots.

I ordered these in 8's and they're a bit bigger than expected, but I just threw some insoles in there and they fit perfectly fine now. I don't think a 7 would've fit me better.

I will say this - I have a few pairs of regular brown boots (Timberland, Superdry, Zara even), and I wouldn't spend $250 just to get the Taft name. I think you can find quality boots at the $150 price point. HOWEVER, if they have a unique style that you wanted (like what I purchased), then I think it's well worth the cost for the boots.

Thanks for making me spend $235 on a Tuesday morning. I am going to grab the loafers in this pattern. Those boots are sweet. I am not normally a boot guy, but this may change my mind.

Very nice.

I think they look great and I can see how they suit your sense of style from photos I’ve seen of you and your wife

Thanks for the kind words! I know these aren't going to be to everyone's taste, but they're definitely quality and they have some other boots / dress shoes that are more tempered in style that are interesting.

I went with those. If they don't work out there's a pair of Tafts I'd like to try.

Those look good! That's what I'm saying though; why spend $250-275 on a pair when you can get great quality at about $100 less? They all look pretty similar.

I would only make the jump for things that are very specific to Taft, such as the boots that I bought or even these:

Been seeing this in my Insta feed.

Really like these:

That said, Allen Edmonds is my go to for this kind of stuff.

I dig the flower boots! Wish I could pull off this look, but I’m just too nerdy. Would definitely be a fashion overreach for me. Kudos to you for going for it!
