Any Seadweller owners catch this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql-y...&feature=share

Anyone catch this yesterday? Quite interesting although a little late to the party?

I know what you mean! But it does still pain me to think the SD4K is still a very underated watch with all the extra features and nuances it has but people didn’t want to pay the extra money for when it was released but are now paying 3000 plus over Msrp for Submariners now !

Any Seadweller owners catch this?

The guy lost me when he said that it got overshadowed when the Deep Sea came out. Wrong order!!

This is also not new news!

Simple facts.

Launched in 2014 (first deliveries in the UK on 02 May).

Discontinued after only 2 years in production because nobody liked it (I loved it, got mine on 02 May!)

Used prides were less than retail at the point of discontinuation. Unpopular.

Super short production run (shortest ever??) meant values shot up. Tell people they can’t have something, suddenly they want it. Tell people it’s a short run, people see potential value.

Went from £6k used in the UK to £10k used overnight (original MRSP was £6,700).

Price hasn’t moved for a couple of years.

Long term, MIGHT be worth a lot of cash based on the RELATIVE rarity. Short term, can’t see it moving much.

Mine won’t be worth anything, I beat the crap out of it. It’s a Sea Dweller!!

I know considering he’s a top watch dealer in Miami he did seem to have his facts wrong with release dates and models orders

Well, I'm partial because I own one, but I think what he's saying is 100% accurate about the reference.

The reality is, this reference is likely the last 40mm SeaDweller ever to be made. It also has a shorter lug-to-lug measurement and smaller footprint on the wrist than any of the other 6-digit "bezeled" professional models of this era, which means it wears better on smaller wrists - closer to a 5 digit - giving it a broader appeal. It also comes with all the benefits of modern references like a ceramic bezel, maxi dial/hands, glidelock, chromalight, parachrome hairspring, matte dial, etc.

If you can get around the height and weight, it really can be a watch that checks every single box - at least for me it does.

he's about 3 years too late

sd4k already went nuts on price, years back.

Nobody bought them, 2k more than a sub for something that looked like a fake sub (no cyclops) in the eyes of new to the brand buyers.

I happen to think they are the best modern diver Rolex has produced.

I quite like the cheeseburger on my wrist. Don’t even notice it.

I always thought this about the SD4K. I picked one up years back while they were being produced.

It's a cool transitional piece with the flat maxi dial & tapered lugs

Bought mine new from DavidSW in 2015 and it's not going anywhere. My favorite watch I've ever owned.

I can’t see the price reaching great heights though even though I am an owner myself as every other hype models such as the gmt and even the bog standard subs all sell for far more than the sea dweller despite them still being in current production and new in the catalogue.

Actually bought a late 2016 model last year. I really like it. I paid £8,500 for mine.
It was a sealed unworn unit so price was fair.

at my AD in 2016 they had an SD4k left over and the new SD43.
the SD43 popped in real life,
the SD4K looked like a dull submariner ( slighlty more mat dial than submariner, same size).
to each their own !
