Tourneau Warranty - As Good As Papers?
Sorry for the click bait title.
I'm looking at buying a watch pre-owned from someone who bought it from Tourneau. My main concern is authenticity. I'd assume Tourneau can authenticate a watch. With the recent unpleasantness (HH), I'm a little on edge. |

Tourneau Warranty - As Good As Papers?
Paperwork doesn’t guarantee authenticity.
Opening the caseback and physical examination by a Rolex authorized service center is your best bet |

No, a Touneau warrenty or paperwork is not as good as the original papers that came with the watch nor does it prove authenticity.

Touneau is a reputable company. It would be suicidal for them to sell you a fake Rolex. They would protect their brand 100%. With that said, if you happen to buy a fake Rolex from them....take them to court!! You have a good chance of getting your money back.

If you're buying directly from Tourneau, you're fine.
If you're buying from somebody that has legitimate papers from Tourneau, you're should be fine. This assumes that the papers are real. Maybe get a copy of them and call them and see if they can look up the records. More importantly, buy the seller. |

If the seller is trustworthy then I wouldn't see a real issue in your case, but the watch is what you authenticate, not the paperwork that comes with it. Any papers help with provenance

The seller is on her with a low post count so I'm still on the fence. |

buying from Tourneau I wouldn't be too worried. Buying from someone else with Tourneau papers doesn't guarantee anything though.

I believe Tourneau sends all pre-owned Rolex to RSC before placing them for sale. With the below caveat Quote:

It's a sale for a Panerai by the way.
I should have clarified. |

If in doubt then don't. There are enough Panerai watches in the market for great prices that you should not buy one that you are not sure of.
