Re-setting to exact time each day..damage?
I like to set my GMT II C to the exact time each day. It is currently running 2.5 seconds fast each day. In 5 years that will be over 1,500 times I pull out the stem and push it in. Will I be causing any damage or can it take it? Thanks..

I'm sure it can take it, but why bother? +2.5 /day is within COSC spec.
Perhaps quartz would have been a good option, unless you don't mind doing a daily adjustment. Cheers

None whatsoever just think of all the older manual wind Rolex and others with screw down crowns .Now they get wound almost daily for decades, but cannot see for the life of me, why you got to set exact time daily.Surely your life don't depend of those couple of seconds daily, just set once a week even then your watch will less than half a minute fast.

Set it at -2.5 seconds and save half the wear.

I remember reading somewhere that Rolex owner's should minimize the number of times they adjust the crown as this can affect the seals and thread.

Remember you can 'fine tune' your Rolex to loose or gain a few seconds depending on the position you place it overnight. It is a simple procedure and this can help you.

Do you think that wearing a Rolex at home for somedays is enough???? I mean if I don't move a lot, I still don't need winding??? I have a bad habit of winding my Sub every couple of days Thanks, Ahmed |

will damage you psychologically more than it will hurt the watch.....
i think the emotional stress from timing and seeing exactly what time it is will cause nervous breakdown over time... remember, time is relative.. so +2.5 could be -4.0 to someone else.. no time is exact.. it moves.. so regardless how many times you set it the time will always be wrong because time as we know it does not exist.... |
