Icon4 New Timex Q 40mm Automatic

Timex made a 40mm automatic Q

$279 msrp

(38mm Quartz is $179)

I’m still deciding if this is a good thing.

Cool, but there's a charm and an old-school retro appeal in the quartz "Pepsi" version, which is also a great vintage size at 38mm. Yes, it's a Timex and yes it's powered by a battery, but so what? That's kind of the point.

Throw an automatic movement in it, change the bezel color to blue/black (which has no real history in the vintage world) and increase its size ... not sure that's as appealing, not for me, anyway.

I bought a previous model. I found it cheaply made.

I handled the Q. I was fairly impressed with it but at the same time I couldn't shake the feeling that it kind of resembled a toy watch. I think I'd rather just buy an Orient.

Did you think it was $179 marked down from $1079?

Exactly this! Thanks for saving me the effort to type.

No but Orients that cost $100-200 are put together better.

I thought the Timex was not up to its relatively low price in feel.
