16610 date Sub Z series (non Kermit) with a flat 4

I can't find a match for my 1999 Z series 16610 Sub. Mine is a non-anniversary, not a Kermit, but does have a flat 4 on the bezel. I have searched all over eBay and other seller's sites, but none have a flat 4. I have found (2) bezels for sale with flat 4's that are black, but they are "loose" as in not installed on a watch. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Hey Dan,
There are some really good threads regarding the transition from the flat 4 here on the forum you can check out that will help you. Are you sure you have a Z serial piece? If you are sure then you don’t have 1999 piece and that’s why you’re not finding anything Z with a flat 4. There are some good threads here as well that will help you with narrowing down what letters tie in with that years. If you do have a 1999 and don’t have the original paperwork that gives the manufacture date then you’re somewhere between U or A. Good luck with your search :)

Your 1999 Subdate is too early to be a Z?

I have seen a Z Subdate for sale with a flat four.

The older Subs had flat 4's on them.

Probably not the correct bezel for the watch if you have a Z.

I checked the paperwork from original purchase, and is an A series from Feb. 2000 (sorry for posting Z from 1999). So, is it now normal to have a flat 4. Thank you so much for the earlier replies.

Then it sounds about right. A serials 16610LN (black insert) came with either flat or pointed fours. But that is not that "important" for this reference. The flat 4 typically refers to the 16610LV (green insert, aka Kermit) simply because they only ran for the first few years, then all switched to pointed (i.e. more rare).

Early 2004 I think they changed. My 2003 SD is flat. My later 2004 and 2005 Subs are pointed.

Your case should have lug holes too. My 2004 and 2005 Subs have no lug holes. My 2003 SD and 2000 GMT has lug holes.
