In this not so good economy I would get the SS Daytona; unless you are a good friend of an AD, when the economy bounces back, it will not be easy to get a New Daytona. If you don't like it later on, you can flip it or just get a used Sub.

I bought my watch right before the recent economy crash, so a new Daytona was not even an option. But surely you can tell from my signature that I am very happy with my Sub-Date.

You cannot go wrong with either one ! My first Rolex was a Sub (I have several other models now also), but plan to buy a Daytona when the economy gets better.

The Sub is the classic, iconic Rolex. The one watch everyone should have. When you get a second, think about the Daytona.

Hi

I would get the SS sub for a first rolex. You can wear it in any situation and it can take some punishment if you plan on wearing it everyday.

Not to take anything away from the Daytona, but I personaly love the Sub.

Good Luck!

I know you want opinions so now you have received many. Which one do you like the best. What was your first thought when looking at these two styles. Both watches are beautiful and will give you pleasure to own. I would decide on one of them, buy it and save up for the other one!!!
But my vote goes for the GMT, only because it's my favorite!!!

Daytona my vote.

Simply because the Daytona is the most comfortable best looking Rolex to me.

I do like my sub-date because whenever wearing it my mind is free from worries of banging it around. However it is somewhat uncomfortable in hot weather. Another thing about Submariner, they are everywhere. Have seen 3 at a local Starbuck shop

i say go for the daytona....and under normal circumstances, i'd say the SS but since yur 41 go for the Two-Tone...gold/steel......its looks great......and the price diff between the both aint too much, i wish i was i guess old enough to pull of a TT

The best thing for you to do is goto an AD and try a few different models on. Which one smiles at you the most?

We all have our opinions and preferences, but you will be the one who will wear it.

There is always a third way!

Get the worlds most iconic sports watch (SS Daytona) but instead of a sub, purchase a DateJust.

Then you are covered! Sportier dress down... Daytona; formal dress up... DJ.

I agree with the others that said pick the one you love. Personally, I would love a TT Daytona with a MOP dial.

I can dive to 100m or swim at the beach with my Daytona but none of my sub's has a stopwatch.

While I'd usually suggest the Sub , as others have mentioned in this economy you have a chance to pick up a Daytona at a great price agree:, so go for the Daytona. Either way you want be disappointed.
