How often do you guys get the seals checked on your watches?

Is it BS that if you wash your rolex often that this can prematurely dry out the seals making your watch more likely to have some kind of water damage.

The reason Im asking is that I clean my sub 2-3x per week.

If you use a very mild soap and lukewarm water, your seals should be fine. People who actually use their watches for diving, will usually get the watch checked once a year for water tightness. The usual 5-7 years seems to work for the rest of us.

Its total BS
Your watch is waterproof how would washing in water damage it now if its a diving watch like the sub.Its recommended to have pressure test annually if used a lot underwater,every two years if used occasionally for scuba diving, if a desk diver then normal service times will do.

The only thing about the seals I have heard is its best to use a
regular mild soap (no antibacterial etc)

The seals should never get touched by the water when washing them BUT
if they were to get touched there would be a slight chance the small amount
of alcohol in it would help speed up the drying of the rubber but even that happening
isn't very likely...

Use a nice mild soap and you are good to go.
I must admit it amazes me how much some people wash and pamper their
watches.... I must be a pig as I wear em and rarely ever wash em.

Pool water and high temperatures, ie lying under the sun and afterwards getting in the water causes more damage to the seals than washing with mild soap.

I use my watch in sea water and wash it ( good rinse) afterwards.

I check it every year at the summer season opening, and service it every 3 years plus or minus, as oils dry out in our climate.
