NEWBIE to AP- How do you?
Sorry--NEW to AP here--I don't even have one but I would like to buy a Blue Royal Oak--any size. Besides the obvious gray market--Is it as tough as a Rolex SS Sports? Is there any chance at all at retail? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It’s pretty tough but not impossible. Just need to be prepared to wait, and hope you don’t keep getting bumped. I know a couple of people that have been promised blue dial models within a reasonable amount of time (I.e. 12 months) and they are still waiting a couple of years later. But I know someone else that got one within three months. So a bit of a lottery really. Buy your ticket and hope for the best!

Always see people saying ap too delicate next to rolex. Ive had to replace one bezel on a rolex gmt because it broke thats not happening with a ap and my rolex gmt has way more scratches that my ap so I definitely wouldn’t worry about the durability of them.

I think it may depend on where you are. In today’s market, and if you’re in the U.S., your wait is likely a year at absolute best for a 15500 or even a 15450 in Blue. Very likely more, and it’s also entirely possible you’ll never get a call unless demand falls or production increases.
If you’re dead set on Blue, go grey unless you want to put in the effort to build a relationship with an AD. And by relationship I mean start a purchase history. By the way, the current Anthracite dial is gorgeous, and the Black certainly isn’t hard to look at. The wait for those can also range from weeks to a couple of years, but I feel your odds are better there.

Current model will be tough, but if you just want a blue RO then look at an old ROC, 26300, 25860 etc, or a Dual Time you will have more opps.

I notice you say any size. There is a HUGE difference between the 37mm and 41mm in terms of size. IMO, if you can wear one of them, you absolutely cannot wear the other as it will look too big/too small. The 39mm fits in between the two of course, but is much harder to get and much more expensive! Good luck with your hunt.

Of course it's possible, if you are willing to wait x years.
