Updated 3126 Movement - 44mm ROO

Sent in my RG44 to APSC in Clearwater, FL yesterday for warranty work; got an email today asking if I would like to have the movement swapped for their updated 3126.

Gave the client care associate a call and she mentioned that the movement updates include a larger barrel and balance wheel assembly for enhanced timekeeping and precision. Since everything is covered under warranty I figured why not and authorized the swap - has anyone else had something similar come up? My RG44 was purchased in August of 2018 from an AD and is a K serial. The service and swap will come with an updated extract of archives as well.

Once this comes back I have to send in my panda 44 for the same timekeeping issue warranty service; sounds like I should have the RG44 back in 4 weeks time so will keep you guys updated.

Wondering if the bigger barrel means larger mainspring and better power reserve as well ... hmm.

Also has me wondering if my PoG from November has this updated 3126 or if this is something brand new.

I’d ask for a trip to Le Brassus on the basis that the terminology is way too confusing and seeing everything firsthand will be very helpful.

For what it's worth, whilst speaking with the CS rep regarding the panda I'll be sending in for warranty service next she recommended swapping the upgraded movement into that one as well.

It's my understanding that they do not ... seems like the appearance of the updated 3126 is an early 2020 event.

Should have my RG44 back in the next week or two. Curious to see if I notice any difference (besides the timekeeping correction under warranty!).

Thats really great of AP to offer. Didn’t RM recently offer some upgrade on a recall but was charging 20k?

Ah, bummer. I guess I'll get it in 5 years+ years when I send it in I wonder if you send it in for warranty work if they'll make the change?

AP customer service really is excellent in this way.

Yes they will make the swap during warranty work if you wish.

Yeesh. Love the look of many RM's but can't say I'm tripping over myself to jump into that pond any time soon.

Absolutely! That's how I found out about it - two of my 44's are having some timekeeping trouble and after sending the first one in this is what they immediately offered.

Exactly. Already offered the same for my panda which I have yet to send in.
