It's actually about 42k USD loaded.
Great car and it drives great. Test drove one just for the heck of it a few months ago.

I would too, except that I'm 6'3" and would have tall passengers too, which makes the C-Class look like a toy with 4 tall adults inside!

Strange, that didn't happen with the Hyundai I used to own. Or with the one I own now

We're on our second Sonata now. It's roomy enough for us, very safe and gets gas mileage out the wazoo

extremely roomy, good quality leather (I've had two jags in the past, an XJ12 and a XJR so I know how good leather looks like).
Nice elegant design and a stereo system that is shared with only one other car on the planet. And that car is the Rolls Royce Phantom. Very impressive.

While I partially agree with some of the previous posters (you will see below why I somewhat agree) you can't stereotype them because of a few troubled years. Let's not forget that Mercedes used to be at the bottom of JD Power list not long ago and Range Rover is a permanent resident. And yet nobody seems to have a problem with those. I honestly think that it's the badge. They should have called it Genesis instead of Hyundai and follow Toyota, Honda and Nissan's example. I am not a very materialistic person but I must admit that the reason I did not buy one four months ago was simply because I could not justify a 40 thousand dollar Hyundai.

I agree For me and my money, I think $30k for the Azera would be about as much as I would spend on a Hyundai...right now. And that might be pushing it.

Old-timer ;)
Well as an older guy who was around when the 1st huyundia's roamed the USA...... I can't get over the time I spent in my friends 1990 hyunDIE with a plugged exhaust, rattling valves, and oh-so-horrible interior with only 50K Miles..... it was a disposable car with horrible performance, handling, accel, braking, curb appeal etc..... That was my 1st impression and it sticks in my mind.
It looks like they have come a long way.......... |

A 7 series costs more than twice as much. How can you compare a $37,000-ish car to an $80,000-ish car? Of course the 7 series has better stuff... The point of the Genesis isn't to take on the 7-series or S-class. The point is to wake those 3-series and C-class drivers up. Do you not realize how badly you're being ripped off if you buy a 3-series or a C-class? There's nothing under the hood and the reliability is iffy, at best. The Genesis is meant to compete with entry level BMWs, Merecedes, Lexus, etc. Not only does it, in my opinion, it beats them. Hyundai Genesis>any entry level luxury car Oh, and by the way, the C-class doesn't even come standard with leather seats (pathetic for a luxury car), while the Genesis does.

The reason you're paying $40,000 "for a Hyundai" is because it's packed with so much stuff. I'll make you a deal, find me a Mercedes or BMW with similar specs for $40,000 and I'll buy you.

BMW...style wise has gone WAY DOWN. I think everything they have out now, minus the 1 series coupe, is horrible to look at...the new Mercedes?? the C class is alright...everything else is awful...I own a C class now...and I have owned 6 BMW's....but if I had the choice of a BRAND NEW car right now..I have been looking at the genesis, the nissan altima coupe, and to my OWN SURPRISE, the VW CC. Im pretty tired of paying a premium on something that isnt going to anything but cost more money down the road...

I was actually defending Hyundai and the Genesis. My comment about the price had to do with people not willing to be "seen" with a 40k Hyundai. Most people in the price range would rather have an much slower, less amenities and less reliable 328 or a C300 before they are seen in a Hyundai. I wear a 4k Seiko SpringDrive and 90% of the people think I am downright crazy for spending that on a Seiko. And that's because of the image associated with the name, not because of the quality of the product. At the end of the day, there is no right and wrong. We have always paid more for owning the brand that speaks to us, the brand that we feel it represents us well and it makes us happy. Regardless of what that object is. Car, watch, jeans, bag, wallet etc.

Well said! Except the 7 fiddy sells for $90K+. I bought mine new in 2007 for $97K, here in SoCal. But then again, lots of luxury items sold here, unfortunately come well equipped with a Hollywood premium attached.

I saw this on the road the other way and I initially mistook it for a Benz, BM'er or an infinity.
It looks very nice... would wait for "gen2" before buying it though to work out the kinks IMHO, Hyundai has probably surpassed GM and Chrysler.
