It's pretty much for sure at this point. The beta has been released to developers with all of the features (albeit it's a bit laggy and buggy, but what do you expect in a beta version). The best part is that Apple is opening up 1000 APIs to developers so the possibilities are going to be endless. I'm especially excited about MMS and turn-by-turn GPS.

I read an article about all these updates, but it really didn't mean anything to me since I've never had an iPhone (strictly BB so far). But, I fwd it on to one of my brothers since he's had every version of iPhone and can't say enough good things about it. Sure enough, he pretty much had the same reaction as you did - very excited!
One of these days I'm going to have to pull the trigger on an iPhone (I think). My concern is the fact that there seems to be sssooooo many features I'll never get anything accomplished because I'm constantly playing with my phone. I guess that's a pretty cool problem to have, but still.... I love the fact that my 5 separate email accounts pop into my BB instantly (many times faster than I get them on my desktop or laptop)...is the iPhone on par with this? My phone is first & foremost a phone/email center...if the iPhone can't compete w/ BB in this category, I just can't pull the trigger. Apps are fun & cool, but in the end I just need a good phone & email device. I've heard the iPhone is kind of hard/slow to type text/email messages on...anybody care to comment? Then there's the issue of the battery. BB's rock when it comes to battery power...I really don't enjoy plugging in my phone every 6 hours. How do iPhone batteries stack up? Any info you iPhone users can provide (especially those that use to be BB users) would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. |

The items I spoke about earlier are my clear concerns...I've yet to hear anyone put those concerns to rest. Even my brother admits the battery is not on par with his wife's BB and yet to hear someone say it's easier (or at least as easy) to type on the touch screen as it is to use the BB keys. Just wondering if anyone out there was a die-hard BB fan and has made the switch & not looking back. That's the true test IMO. Cheers. |

the iphone is wonderful, i have not had any issues with mine and i have one of the first 8gb models to come out, been on tmobile since no issues.... everything works 100%. I jailbroke the iphone to allow 3rd party software to be installed and most 3rd party softwares add all the features your bb has and some simply unlock all the easter eggs of the phone. Regarding email, here is the email menu that allows for a majority of all pop3, exchange type emails. I use mostly web based emails with pop3 and it works perfect. Text messaging is easy with a program that allows for a landscaping keyboarding. I use iRealSMS and here is the emoji that apple locks up for the japanese market only. of course only iphone users can see the emoji. the battery is actually good, mine still can go about one and one half days with just occasional texting and phone. If i go all out and play games, music and surf the internet through edge then 8 hours tops and if you use wifi then it cuts it to about 5-6 hours. The secret is to turn off a lot of the automatic services like push data, data roaming, reminders etc.... also turn the screen brightness down, that helps a lot. still to this day the best phone i have ever owned and wont trade up even for a 3g model. I dont like the 3g model is made of all plastic, the first gens at least had an aluminum case back. I am also on tmobile so no 3g for me anyway. and my desktop |

The software update will be available in June. I would hold off as I would be willing to bet money that an updated iPhone will come out on or around the same time as they release the update. But the update will not be available until June. Currently developers have access to the Beta version of the software and that's so they can create their apps to work with the new version. General consumers will not see the update until Summer.

Sorry, but not until June unless you're a developer. If you're a developer, you can get access to it now.
