Bought this one in 2000. 22% off. Absolutely no plan to part with it.

My first is in New South Wales now! It was a SeaDweller W Series that was perfect. I sold it because I was tired of it...dumb move.
I got a huge bonus from work when we won the Stanley Cup and I went out and bought the Y-Series PEPSI GMT-II I have now. So, I let my first go...but I kept my second. I'll have this watch for the rest of my life! You never forget your first though... |

I purchased my first on Feb 27, 1994, in Hong Kong at La Suisse Watch Company in Causeway Bay. I have always wanted to own a Rolex, and decided that it was time. I was in Hong Kong on a business trip and asked a local colleague to take me 'Rolex shopping'. We visited several AD's that day, and my colleague helped me to negotiate 15% off retail on a BNIB 14060 (list price in 1994 was $2,000 US, and I paid just above $1700 US with no tax). I recall the euphoria and feeling that day I took my Rolex from the AD, back to my hotel.
Yes, I still have it, and am attaching photos of it. I wear it about 10-12 times a year, and will never part with it, due to sentimental reasons.

Bought mine from a forum member only about 2 weeks ago. Its my favorite Rolex diver (until they release the new Submariner in SS with the ceramic bezel and the glidelock clasp!). This is the first watch I've ever bought that I absolutely will not sell. Probably...

It's so great to see that so many of you have hung on to your first Rolex. For those of you that still have your first you obviously have a sentimental attachment to it, correct?
How many of you had your first Rolex engraved? -Frankie |

Very sentimental attachment to my 14060. I will never engrave a watch, as I like mine untouched and basically 'stock'. My 14060 was my only Rolex from Feb 1994 until Dec 1996, when I bought a GMT II at Tourneau in South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, CA) while visiting Southern California on a business trip. I work in technology sales and had 'closed' a pretty large sale, so I decided to congratulate myself !

Still have my first Rolex. 6694 Satin Dial Oyster Precision. Purchased in Osaka in 1974 when I was still an Overseas College Student in Japan.
When dad had his 6694 stolen in 1980 I gave him mine as I had purchased a DJ by that time. Around 1995 when he was nearly 80 he gave it back telling me he was too old to wear one. It's still with me, hardly wear it anymore, reminds me of my young days in Osaka and reminds me of dad who passed away at 92. Hope to give it to my son when I turn 70 in 11 years time. In January, I turned 40.
My wife bought me a brand new black face Explorer II from the local AD. My parents and in-laws chipped in to. Unfortunately, the wifey did not know to ask about a discount, and naturally, one was not offered. No matter, I was surprised and very happy. This is my first Rolex. I will never get rid of it. |
