15450 or 26315?

Hypothetical question, I’m interested to hear the fellow forum member’s view: Providing they both fit equally as well as one another, which would you choose MSRP from boutique:

- 15450 blue dial
- 26315 with blue sub dials

They do both fit equally. I’ll pick 15450 blue dial due to in-house movement, exhibition caseback, and stunning blue dial.

I love both but would go 15450 out of those two options for two reasons:

- MSRP significantly lower

- the blue dial is my favorite 15450 but I actually prefer the ruthenium dial for the 26315 (tho I love both dials!)

Can you get a 15450 blue dial from an AD? Those are not easy to get anymore. If you can get that at MSRP, I'd get that. I have the 26315 with blue subdials and I totally love it, but to me it isn't quite as versatile as the 15450/15500.

Now, if you already have the watch that can "do it all", I'd probably get the 26315. Unless you are truly truly a movement nerd, I don't think it matters that it isn't in house. It's a very well-established movement that AP has been using for years. Get what you think fits better into your collection. You're going to win either way!

15450 is 37mm, 26315 is 38mm, you should try both of them and see which one that you really like it and take that one.
At ADs, it is still not that easy to find but not as hard as 15500st.
15450 is a lot cheaper than 26315 for msrp, but at grey probably about 2K cheaper.

I got the 15450 blue from the local AP boutique in Feb this year and there’s arguably no better watch in that size. It wears more like a 38mm and thus very versatile. It’s an absolute stunner. Even at grey market prices, it would still be worth it. It’s one of the few AP models that will appreciate in value while retaining its appeal. It’s the future vintage 14790.

The movement would not bother me at all the F. Piguet 1185 aka the AP 2385 is a fabulous movement used widely across the AP range and also by Vacheron & Blancpain..

For 26315 grey color is not that hard to find at the Boutique (not ADs).

If you like grey color, I think you can find BNIB at a better price than msrp at TRF on sale section.

Flirting with the idea of a blue 15450 myself. What am i honestly looking at as far as getting one from an AD? Im moving to southeastern VA in august, and live in upstate NY (saratoga area). So easily visiting one could be a pain.

Hafiz - I love your videos so much, especially how you take the time to have third party perspective shots (I agree that super closeup wristshots distort perspective, for example I know I can pull off a 41mm 15500 and so can many others even with non-huge wrists).

That being said, I also have watched the 15450 and 26135 videos obsessively - and I know you think they generally wear similar, but why is it that the ROC seems to me (and to many others on the forums, through a quick search) generally accepted as an appropriate size no matter what the wrist size whereas people sometimes think a 15450 seems "too small" (dial too small even if overall "shape" is not)? Is there any cosmetic difference in a chrono dial that makes it "wear" larger? Or is it the pushers?

I have a blue dial 4500V and absolutely love it. Ultimately it’s way more versatile than the RO, and (personally) I don’t agree with some of the knocks that it got in Hafiz’ head-to-head video with the RO.

That being said, I’m in the market for the grey dial 26315 38mm ROC. Now that I have the versatile three handler in the Overseas, and a blue dial that it an absolute stunner, I feel like a ROC would be the perfect compliment. Fist of all, I still love the RO and lust after it’s design and bracelet. The grey dial ROC would provide a different dial color, a complication, and a different design. The RO feels more precious - with its lower water resistance and case/bracelet that I would not want to scuff - and with the “everyday” Overseas at my side, the ROC could be the watch I wear on occasions when I’m not going to be in a position to scuff.

The lack of an in house movement does bug me a little bit, especially at the price. But the design is to die for and I still have my Overseras movement to gawk at.

I am so strongly considering that blue 4500V, so I am very happy that you love it. I love the idea of the strap change and that's totally real value since I can do a bracelet a lot of the time and put it on the leather when I need to dress it up a bit. The rubber is awesome for a super sporty look too.

I love the RO design as well, and totally see your addiction with the 38mm 26315 too. Do you think it'll wear a lot smaller than your 41mm VC? In regard to the movement, I agree with you; in house would be cool but then again the F Piguet 1185 is a legendary movement so I'm alright with it, haha.

This may actually be to its benefit. There’s no doubt that the RO is a bit, shall we say...noticeable. Personally, I’m enamored with the bracelet/case design, and how the facets play with light. But I also don’t want to signal from across the room with my wrist (perhaps watch meetups aside...Haha). That’s me personally, and the smaller size of the 26315 is a little more toned down than how the 41mm variant would look on my wrist. I also think that due to the case and bracelet construction and integration, the watch wears larger than its stated diameter, at least 1mm up to 2mm larger. When read as a whole, particularly with the grey dial and SS bracelet, the 26315 is still quite a substantial - but not oversized - piece on the wrist.

Just my opinions and impressions of course, based on my wrist size of 170-175mm.

It has more of a heft compared to 15450. That is because of the slightly bigger size, thicker bezel and case. It is much better proportioned than the 15450 IMO. I don't ever feel it is too small when I wear it.

Great to hear... Wish the same could be said about the 15450 (as the direct above post mentioned - it seems that the populace loves the 26315 more than the 15450, sigh). Tbh not in love with the Jumbo (aware of the heritage but I need a sweeping seconds for some reason, so prefer the 5711 at range), so maybe the 39mm 15300 it is.
