Interesting, never thought of it that way, but I guess it does have a few in that line....

A model named the Rolex Action (or a similar name not tied to one specific sport) may have merit. Does anybody here agree, disagree ?

"Rolex Action" is meaningless without a description. What would it look like? They already make action watches.
It's like saying, "Would you buy a luxury car?" Depends on what it looks like and what it does. throwing out the term "action watch" is too general to even be relevant.

How would a hypothetical “action” watch be meaningfully different from the Exp I, OP, or DJ? It’s not like Rolex’s design is generally less than robust watches.

I don't think they need to come with an entirely new model. Maybe redesign one of the current pieces. I would imagine either the milgauss or the air king could fit this bill

When I look at the Rolex Professional line I see sport-specific watches including the Sub(diving), YM (yachting), Daytona (race driving), Explorer (mountain climbing) and professional watches for career GMT (piloting-travel) , Milgauss (scientific).
For the Rolex Action model I am thinking brushed stainless Oyster bracelet, new design machine turned bezel, basic stick dial offered in some new colors like blue, green, red, maybe a shade of yellow etc... |

Think I’ll pop back in 5 or 10 years to see how the “action” progresses on this thread.

I think an updated engine turned bezel (or some other unique style bezel), as well as colorful dial choices, maybe some innovation for the hour markers etc.. could all make for the Rolex Action being distinctly different from the OP, Explorer, or any other current Rolex model.

Well the 216570 Exp II was released in 2011, the same year this thread was started, so I guess it sort-of met the brief
