Icon20 Would you own 116610ln or GMT2 BLNR batman?

Hello,

I am interested in the opinion of this audience for what is a rather Hamletic doubt that is preventing from taking a decision these days.

I am considering buying the 116610ln or/and GMT2 BLNR batman.

Which one would you own?
Is there a merit in buying both?

(for argument's sake, I assuming price is not an issue since these two watches will keep their value fairly well).

Thank you very much

I’d go with the BLNR if $$$ isn’t an issue.
Still very versatile and adds a splash
of color. Sub date is great as well ,
but unless your going diving GMT is 100m wd as well,
multi time zone , can still be used to time or track time
and can also be used as a compass.

Sporty, classy, casual and not boring .
You decide. Good luck!

+1. The BLNR may be a “hotter” watch at the moment but the Sub is a timeless classic and a quintessential Rolex.

I've owned the BLNR for years. I've tried on the Sub Date several times ready to buy. every time, the fit convinced me to back away.

Submariner for me. GMTs don't fancy my aesthetic. You have to go with what you ultimately prefer.

Batman for sure. Sub very common and movement will be updated soon. BLNR Mk1 will be collectable in my opinion, you can get a black sub anytime.

BLNR

Two reasons for me, first is it’s more unique in my mind

Second is it’s discontinued

Plus for me it fits me better and I just think it’s better looking.

Can’t go wrong with either

I am a huge fan of the Rolex divers but I would go with the Batman for the color and what I consider to be a uniqueness that the black dial Submariners do not have. There are a lot of options for divers and I prefer my Tudor Black Bay to the Submariners at this moment.

I also own both, got the BLNR first and loved its unique wrist presence and colour combination. Then the Sub just became the obvious next purchase, its such a beautiful watch and style icon, I'm very lucky to have a good AD who does not have me waiting for months or years for these pieces.

Your onto a winner either way both are excellent buys and if you can get both - Just do it and enjoy them.

I’m going with the Sub between the two. It’s a classic timeless simple design you really can’t go wrong with.

Very nice. I like this one and was hoping it reverted lower on the 2ndary.

If i may swap the subc bracelet w the blnr. The sub on super jubliee would be a nice change up.

Both are great watches, but I would prefer the Sub.
Brushed bracelet and glidelock are perfect for daily wear.

I own a sub, but if you choose 1, the gmt is more versatile. Date, time, you can measure elapsed time with the bezel, and 2/3 time zones. Now, the deciding factor may be on how you feel about the colors. I like the Batman,(not the lug size) but can’t help feel the colors make it costume like in some way. Though the color scheme is far better than the kelly green of the hulk and purple Pepsi.

If you can get both, why not?

If choosing one, I find the GMT function more useful than a diver. The GMT is good to 100m if you’re concerned about water resistance.

Have you seen them in person, particularly the BLNR? If not I’d suggest trying to do so before buying. The BLNR looks great in photos, but there are many examples here of people deciding they didn’t like it once seen in person. Before the Rolex craziness I was at an AD who had a BLNR and an LN, I chose the LN. I didn’t like how the PCL’s and the two tone bezel looked together. If buying sight unseen, and choosing one, the Sub is the safer purchase.

BLNR

- GMT trumps Diver for me
- the blue black combination is a winner vs a black only bezel
- this variant is discontinued
- BLNR first dual color ceramic bezel

Depends on what you have in your collection
If it’s your first watch then I’d go for the most iconic, classic rolex........the sub
If you’re growing the collection and don’t have a GMT then the BLNR

I have both. My sub is a daily driver and the GMT is for when I like to spice things up a bit but not too much. My wife can’t tell the difference between the two, but I didn’t buy them to impress her.

I own the BLNR. That edges it for me.

I like the splash of color. I enjoy a GMT function. And I see a lot less of them out and about. I feel like I see a sub all over the place.

Plus, even though I hate the silly nicknames, Batman was my favorite super hero as a kid.

I won’t lie though —- if I found a deal on a sub/date, I would buy it too.

Just get both. It’s much simpler.

Own a sub-date but this would be a 50/50 choice for me. Love the BLNR.
