But anyway, I just wanted to share a bit.

As many of you know I'm in the restaurant business.

Back in 2017 my head chef had been onboard for 10 years. I wanted to celebrate this and the great work he had put in, and he really is a huge part of our (my) success. Much more so than his salary. Long story short I bought him a No-Date Sub. He still wears his Sub daily, and truly treasures it. I'm glad, as he and I have become lifetime friends, and I trust this man with my life.

My head chef's childhood friend came onboard a few years later, and he is equally solid in every way. Awesome personality with a great sense of humour (he should really be doing stand-up!) and a soldier in the kitchen.

These two gentlemen are my Chef and Sous-Chef. Superb blokes in every way.

Today was my Sous-Chefs 10 year anniversary, and we somewhat agreed earlier that the watch for him was an Explorer 2, black dial.

I've never been happier to buy a Rolex for someone else than today! The virus is pretty much over, my restaurant is open again and doing great! We're working hard with some restrictions still, but we are (for the moment at least) doing better than before the restrictions.

Long story... But I just wanted to share some of the joy with getting a real hard-working man his Rolex.

Group shot below of Jani's 14060 (Chef) My 1680 Red Sub and Sami's 16570 (Sous-chef).

You’re the man.
I know how it feels when you buy something so special to a special person. I enjoy that moment more than when I buy something for myself.

For sure.

Restaurants here had to be closed from 4th of april until end of may.

Looks like most of our restrictions will be gone monday next week.

This is a really a great story! As an American who’s worked in the US, Norway and Sweden, its amazes me that most (not all) US companies still haven’t caught on that if you treat your workers really well (like family) they work harder and stay longer; which the workers appreciate because they feel valued and is also good for the bottom line! This story right here is a great example of that. Thanks for being a great boss!

Excellent gesture to show your appreciation. You're very fortunate to have such great relationships and I'm sure they value you as much. Also glad to hear your restaurant is doing well in these challenging circumstances! Stay safe

Thanks for sharing this, you must be an exceptional owner and leader to have retained talent like theirs for over a decade of their lives. A touching symbol to share with them for their hardwork and dedication. Life long employees of high caliber are tough to find and even more difficult to keep, stay safe and take care.

Thank you for your kind words. I try. I also count myself very lucky to have staff like I do.
