This has been a sudden and exciting adventure with my previous watches being gifted apple watches and before that essentially nothing.

A good friend and TRF member (sushisean) introduced me to the brand earlier this month. I donned one of his watches which immediately caused a complete shutdown of all cost/benefit analysis and triggered a 3 day crash course on the watch world and the Rolex lineup.

The one that resonated the most with me was the GMT II as I travel and work frequently between Asia and California. Only choice was bezel and I wanted the split color which would quickly remind me how inappropriate the the time was to be calling and sending messages.

Few days later from 2 personal recommendations, Patrick and Steve over at OC Watch Guy got me set up with a beautiful Oyster Batman.

Over the past week I’ve been wearing the Batman everyday instead of my Apple Watch and the satisfaction continues to grow. I have a feeling Google/Youtube knew 2 years in advance when they snuck in a Rolex assembly video into autoplay which made me appreciate the precision, craftsmanship, and complexity of these timepieces.

Big thanks to (sushisean), Patrick/Steve (OCROLEXGUY/OCWATCHGUY), and the all-knowing Google/Youtube for introducing me to this world.

Know that feeling as if it was yesterday. I was also wearing my Apple Watch when I took delivery of my first Rolex last year.
Great reference, looks good on your wrist.
Enjoy.

Yes, that story sounds very familiar! Congratulations!

That one is quite a looker. Enjoy and have piece of mind knowing it can last forever (or at least a few generations).

Congrats! That’s the perfect watch for you and your travels, imo. GMTs are my absolute favorites. Enjoy!
