Gold-Wrapping Explorer

Wanted to get forum members thoughts/opinions on gold-wrapping or 18K gold-plating an Explorer I. Why would I consider that? Because I prefer gold than silver and as you know, gold Rolexes starts at $15K. There is rumor that Rolex might release a precious metal Explorer in 2020,21 but no holding breath!

Do you think doing this would drop the value of watch?

The watch will Be worth next to nothing after that. Look for a used breitling or omega.

If I wan a full gold submariner, I’ll sell two of my steel sports stunners and buy one full gold sub. Not into gold plating mockery

Your watch your money but to answer your question it will absolutely drop the value of your watch. I doubt you would ever be able to sell it.

Its an absolutely awful idea.

If you had unlimited funds and were just doing it for fun/because you think it would look cool, then sure why not (although its still a bad idea).

If you are doing it because you want a gold Rolex but don't want to pay the price then its the worst idea I have ever heard. You still wouldnt have a gold Rolex and you would have a stanless Rolex that people laugh at and would assume is fake.

I thought I've seen/ heard everything but this is new lol. Hard pass OP. Get a different watch if you want something gold-esque. Something from tudor perhaps.
