Does this Rolex look authentic? The price is around $1,000 at a private site.

Welcome to the forum Stanley.
Looks original enough to my untrained eye. Case back indicates it was made in 1966 (II 66) not in fifties. Bracelet is stretched and may be unwearable, dial is not great condition and there may be signs of moisture pitting and seller says crystal maybe cracked and would therefore need replacing. The watch would also need a service.
You need to factor these things into your decision.
There is a good restorer of older watches on this forum, user name Dalton. I would PM (personal message) him to get an idea of restoration costs before I bought this one. IMO $500/600 would be a more realistic price given the work that would be needed.

I have to agree with Martin. That watch has some issues that would be difficult and expensive to recover.

My gut would tell me to pass on it.

Welcome along Stanley, nice pics of the watch. Is it worth $1000? Not an expert but looks like a lot of TLC required and a new bracelt so factor that in before offering.

Looks authentic, but a little pricey considering the amount of $$$ you're going to need to service/restore it.

He's asking around US$785 at the current Forex rate (27 Mar).

The fixing up will cost you a packet.

BTW, the bracelt clasp indicates it's a US model.
