Like a number of other Swiss watch companies, in the 80's Rolex also jumped on board the "Quartz" band wagon.
But they later discontinued the Oysterquartz and returned back to mechanical watches.

yup...Rolex quartz movement...old models that has been discontinued...so if you see somebody changing the battery of his Rolex...think again before saying...PEKE YAN!!! (THATS FAKE)

Hmm. IMO the original quartz Rolex were not dialled as 'Oyster Perpetual' because they were not.
Oyster Perpetual' refers to Rolex automatic winding movements.
There have been some Rolex quartz case/bracelet watches offered for sale with automatic Rolex movements inside but I don't thing they are original Rolex models.
The watch shown in the pix does not IMO have a quartz case/bracelet assembly.
I know a Forum member has one perhaps he will post up a pix.

That doesn't look like an Oyster Quartz. The case of an Oyster Quartz does not look like any other Rolex. Here is an image I borrowed (stole) off of eBay.

They're original. Google Rolex 1530 and Rolex 1630. Having said that, the watch shown on Craigslist is a counterfeit. Below is my 1630, purchased from Stuart here a few days ago. Kai (2careless) here also has one:

This is the one I bought brand new at Bucherer in Geneve, back in 1983.
Still ticking with its typical loud noise, and super precise as when new.

He also claims it needs a new battery. Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches don't have batteries. I would steer clear of this one.

Not being into vintage Rolexes, is the price even close? And my other question is since the dial says Oyster Perpetual, did he even try to wind it or open the case to see if it was an automatic or quartz movement? If he knows nothing of watches he might think that any stopped watch "needs a battery". JMHO.

I agree with Sparkey could be that the seller knows nothing about automatic watches and thinks all watches run on batteries and is presuming because it has stopped the battery is dead.
But I would not touch it with a barge pole.
