Rolex date just 36/day date 36.

Hey guys does anybody know if one can put a leather strap on these models that come originally on a bracelet without scratching the leather strap in the middle ? ? would curved pins (spring bars) or a thin leather be able to solve the problem. thank you very much if you know anything

I am not really following you.

Both the Datejust and the Day Date are available from Rolex with leather straps. You can put regular leather on practically any Rolex model the same way you would with most other watches.

On 5 digit models I think you can, just like the 5 digit submariner.

But 6 digit, if you install a leather strap, without end links, the watch case will scratch the leather strap in the middle between the lugs

The way to get around it is to use end links specially made for the leather strap, like the ones that come with modern day dates that are sold with leather straps.

The Datejust in post #4 above isn’t a modern Datejust, that’s why it works

If you look between the lugs of the DayDate in post #4, you will see some type of end links between the lugs, that’s why it works

I repeat, without those fancy end links, on a modern Datejust (6 digit) this will not work

I see your post #7, and it makes no sense.

You can put a strap on a 5 digit or a 6 digit model in exactly the same way, they are no different.

End pieces on Rolex models with straps are an integral part of the case, they don't come off without taking the case apart, and you can't put them on bracelet cases. The straps on these models are still attached the same way that any strap is.

You’re right you can put them on, but on a 5 digit, the leather strap will clear the case and not run against it

On a 6 digit, the case will scratch the leather

There’s tons of pics of this online

Let me look for a few

uhh 6 digit models have the lug holes close to the case so majority of straps will get marred and scratched. I can 100% confirm with 116234, 214270, 114060, 116600. It's not the same. Curved spring bars are the way to go for straps. Also, endlinks for straps look terrible imo.

hey thanks for the reply. no thats not true. they are available only on metal bracelets. and the date just 41 and the submariner - once you put them on the leather, the leather is scratched by the case of the watch since the spacing is too small

so you think a curved strap would solve this issue fully ? does rolex have original curved parts or does it have to be an aftermarket ? thanks

I think the curved spring bars is what people use as a solution but it’s aftermarket

Also, some people sell end links that would fit the case, then you attach leather to those

But you’re right, putting a regular leather strap on a 6 digit just like that, with straight spring bars will destroy it

These must be very delicate straps. Nine of mine have faced 'destruction' over the past years. Perhaps a few scratches on my consumable leather straps. If you actually wear them you need to replace anyway.
