Help with Rolex font engraving?
Hi all,
Could you pls assist with the authenticity of the number engravings? and whether the case back is original, service, aftermarket? The seller is reputable but I would like a confirmation. The letters on the case seem ok but the numbers, not too sure.... Sorry, if the pictures are not the best. Thanks. |

It would probably take at least a couple decades to produce the rust found on the inner case back.
Looks fine to me based on the poor quality photos.

The 8 looking like it was hand drawn isn't uncommon. I'm subbing to see what some of the experts have to say.
I will say this though - a lot of the older (1970s, 60s) rolexes and Tudors I look at, will have some kind of wear within the serial or reference number, where the end links have rubbed over time. Having said that, as Springer observes, the rust indicates the parts are quite a few years old. |

To me it is good and original, the font with the 8 that looks handwritten is typical for the period.

I would have access to a wide library of serials engraving pictures.

Thankfully, there isn't a real shortcut to producing the corrosion on the inner lugs.
