I have read the thread from go to whoa also and can't help thinking that, seeing as you still don't have these puppies at home w/ you..... maybe they aren't calling too loud.

Hell - with the money and the desire, inside 5 mins I'd be waving bundles of cash over the counter at him

And - what sort of sales person is happy for this value of stock to languish? Nope - unless you go in pronto w/ CASH someone else will get that Daytona, possibly all 3.

You've gotta be in to win buddy and you are out at this point!

Good Luck, and please be sure to let us know how this saga ends!

PS: Personally, I would pass at anything less than 20% off and I would jump at anything over 25%.

I received an e-mail today frm him:

Good Morning Brian, I'm sorry I did not get back to you right away I just had an extremely busy day yesterday, I had several meetings with people so I was in and out all day long. I am very interested in selling you the watches. I can give you a package price on all three watches, the price would be 20,675-, the list price on the 3 is 25,675. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great weekend.

So there, you naysayers! LOL. Ok, so what's the advice on his offer? Please chime in (even the naysayers :))>

That's 20% discount and everyone just about predicted the discount you are going to get.

If you want them, go get them!

If you later find that you don't like the other 2 watches, you can flip the other 2 and it would just be adding to the discount of your Daytona or whichever one you plan to keep of the three.

I would personally go for it especially if you are not strapped for cash.

Sounds like a fair deal. I think a 30% discount is unrealistic.

If you like the watces and have the money... you only live once.

Or you can invest the money and one day look back and say, gee I should have bought the watches.

Also, you shouldn't have a problem flipping these watches, if you price them accordingly for sale.

I would also say that your AD is a solid dealer. Although it took a while to correspond with one another, he still gave you a good and fair discount that two parties can be happy with.

If your dealer is willing to do that and if your hobby of collecting watches become greater than that, you will at least have an AD that can supply you inventory when you can flip watches for a hobby as well.

Imagine all the wonderful pieces that will come across your hands........if you decide to flip the two of the three, you can purchase another three and flip them as well.

Sounds like a very fair deal. Don't forget to add in the sales tax. Maybe you can get the AD to ship the watches out of state to avoid paying the sales tax?

Ohhhh, the naysayers. Nah, spite isn't my motis operandi. Too much negative karma. This is all in good fun.

If I can do this deal for 20K out the door, I think I'd pull the trigger. That way I would do my part for the economic stimulus of the USA and Switzerland :). If I have to pay more than that, it starts getting tough.

I appreciate the advice and opinions so far, and I thank in advance any other thoughts.

I guess I have a couple of days to mull it over.

I wouldn't haggle over $675, myself, for three watches of that calibre. As for "out the door", remember taxes...and you'd previously said you wouldn't do the "ship out of state" thing.

OK, question: Is the anyone else here:

1. who doesn't own these watches and would like to own these three; and
2. has the means to do this deal; and
3. would do this deal today?

I'm gonna do, what I'm gonna do in the end; but I was just wondering if anyone want's this deal, if I wimp out? BTW, I don't consider myself a wimp!

I agree with you 100% about the $675, per se. But it would be sweet to be able to put it together for an even $20K.

If the AD will give a discount of about 20% on the deal and then it is negotiated to an "out the door price", depending on the tax in AK, then you will be pushing the 30% discount.

Do not think that is very likely, but hey, you never know. Good Luck.

A 20-30% discount for those watches.......that would be amazing.

$20,675 + 8% sales tax = $22,329. So about a 13% discount out the door, which is good on the Daytona and decent on the other two.

Just keep in mind that if you plan to flip them, you may still take a lost in the current economic times.

You have to make your own decision, but it seems like a good deal. No one really needs to purchase these 3 watches. But many watch collectors would gladly add them to their collection at this price point. If you decide not to purchase them, I am sure someon here would gladly take the deal your AD is offering, if the deal is transferable.

Hi Nylawbiz.
You have a a great task ahead..... half the fun of owning is buying.
As a point of reference I am buying a Gold president day-date diamond Dial. It's retail cost in GB pounds was £16,970. I am buying it for £14,255 and because I need 2 extra links which cost £400 (for both) they are including this in the deal. Hope that helps with what dicount is available at the moment. (this is buying it from an AD) i hope you get all three, want a dream situation. dream99

thanks everyone. If you notice, he didn't mention cash vs. credit card. So, if I pay in greenbacks, he saves the credti card disocunt, which has ot be worth atleast 3%. An additional 3% off would bring it down to about $20G. If he doesn't give me an additional discount for cash, I'll use my American Express card which will give me 1%.

Now for that pesky sales tax, . . .

I say do it Brian.

It sounds like a great deal for three great watches. If you have the money and you want them do it!

Man, if I had the money and somebody offered me 20% of a Fifty Fathoms, I'd bite off their hand!
