Daytona: Unpopular Opinion

The 2T Daytona is the best version of the Daytona.

More understated and balanced than the all pm or ss versions with better dial options.

All I know is, lately I have had the impression TT Daytonas and TT watches in general have been gaining in popularity. I could have bought several SS models but I went for a Blusey two weeks ago and I'm very happy with it...

I do like the TT 116503 white dial on a lady. Goes well with any gold accessories. Will be looking for one for the wife.

+1 to this. Have seen a few women wearing this model and it looks great on them!

Since SS model is very hard to acquire, a lot of people start to go for it now. I think it looks fantastic.

Respectfully disagree...I own the GMT LN and the Bluesy....the Daytona is best in SS or PM. The TT somehow does not do it for me wrt the Daytona.

I'm thinking about this also. My wife and I have been together 50 years and she has become a watch enthusiast over the years but currently she doesn't have a Rolex. Plus she really like big watches and loves my Bluesy.

I completely agree. For some reason I’m not huge on the Daytona generally, however I find myself eyeballing the 2 time ones occasionally. Particularly the blue racing dial that I think has since been discontinued. The other dial options in my opinion are way nicer as well.

There were a few people that mentioned that the white dial looks great on women, but I think it’s just generally a good looking watch that could look great on either gender.

Yeah i've always admired the TT Daytona, and the dial options are great too.

Not keen on a ceramic bezel Daytona prefer the metal (SS or PM) bezel versions, just think that they look better.

The current TT with a Champagne dial is a good look, black dial is nice as well but not sure about the white dial.

I took the same approach here: not ready to wear TT myself yet but got a keen volunteer :)

I have the TT black dial gold bezel, so out of your four I’d pick the top right in a heartbeat. Looks great! I have two TT watches and I love them. I like the contrast of the gold/steel which is why the TT black dial was actually higher on my wish list than the all SS. I DO think the white dial SS looked better on my sales lady than it did on me :-)

Daytona on a two tone jubilee would be interesting... otherwise it’s all steel or all pm for me.

Personally, I find that the ceramic bezel (in these mock-ups at least) looks out of place, and ruins the design cohesion. The PM bezel is necessary on two-tone Daytonas to tie it all together. The black and champaigne with black sub-dials don't look atrocious to me, but a gold bezel would still be ideal...

The Daytona is unique amongst the Rolex professional line in this was, as I dont think the above applies to the TT Subs or GMTs. I would liken it more to a TT DJ, which would also look terrible with a ceramic bezel.

I really like the gold bezel on mine; I wouldn't want the ceramic instead of gold. The ceramic is nice on the Platinum. I really believe that the whole ceramic bezel mania started with the Platinum; those who'd no way buy it went gaga when it came out on stainless. Maybe if they came up with a special two tone ceramic bezel I could see it.

I think the stainless and yellow gold has more racing heritage going forward as it is given away to top three finishers by class at the 24 Hour at Daytona.

Best version?? Debatable I suppose, but wouldn’t be my vote. To each their own, that’s what makes this hobby/passion, fun and interesting!

I would have to disagree. Some TT watches are highly attractive eg the TT Blue Sub (outstanding!), the TT GMT and even the TT YMll (yes I like the YM ll). But the TT Daytona, no, not for me. The Daytona in St St or PM yes great looking watches. Just my taste and MHO..

I respectfully disagree. I find most TT watches somewhat distracting as I prefer singular metal versions. I have owned a TT Daytona before and it is a fine watch but the TT is just not for me.

I always felt a two tone watch would never work for me, however, the rose gold is starting to grow one me. I came close to purchasing a root beer gmt a few times since its release. My watch preferences have changed over the years and I guess they continue to do so.

Same. The TT just reminded my of growing up in Miami in the 90s. But the TT CHNR changed my tune when I got eyes on it. There’s an elegance that subdues the flashiness that really speaks to me.
