spring bar vs screw bar strap system
Curious why some Panerai have one or the other system for changing straps?
The BMG series is the only one in submersible line that uses it for some reason. What do you prefer and why? I have noticed that when i check my screw bar for the buckle periodically, it needs to be tightened and one time it actually came unscrewed, I caught it before the watch actually fell. |

Sometimes I believe it has to do with the materials used to create the case. It may be difficult to fabricate or failure-prone in some instances. In others, I am not sure. Most Radiomir 1940s use spring bars as opposed to screws and I have no idea why.

A little TINY bit of Loc-Tite blue, just a tiny bit, on the threading should help alleviate that. For the PAM01033, it uses the quick release thingy, and love it as i tend to change straps often depending on activity and outfit. For Panerai's quick release system i occasionally clean and lube with watchmaker fine oil; have never had a problem.

I think the general consensus is that threaded lugs are more robust, but truthfully I’ve never had a problem with spring bars
