Variations on the 3135

Learned something interesting today....

Setting the date and time on the 3135 installed in the DateJust...

In order to advance the date or set the time, one must turn the winding crown forwards on the the 36mm model. For the 31 and 26mm models, the crown is turned in the opposite direction.

This seems odd, since I would assume they are the same movement.

I wonder if it is due to the size difference....the gear that the stem engages may be on the opposite side of the stem due to a smaller case.

Nope....

Ladies and mid-size - 2135.........Mens sizes - 3135...

They are NOT the same movement... (although the relative workings are the same..)

Take a look over in our Tech Sub Forum, in Vanessa's Tips, we show the difference in size of the mainspring barrel between the two different movements...

That, and the 3135 uses an extra set of gears (for this function) that cannot be fitted to the 2135 without making it too thick to fit in the mid-size or ladies watch cases..

Larry is completely correct but for the mens range all the movements except for the chronograph. Are basically just clones of the cal 3135 with or without added complications.
