Next Rolex ?

So i currently have a Black OP39. I've had it for over a year and its been pretty much my daily watch. I love the watch, the weight is perfect the fitment on my wrist is absolutely perfect. It makes me wish there as a Datejust that used exactly the same case. I have been saving (since Submariners are now unobtainable due to supply/demand, and I find them repulsive in two-tone) and can now afford a DD40 but when I tried one on it felt pretty heavy in comparison to my OP39. I haven't been able to try on a DJ41 due to the availability at AD's. So what I was thinking of getting is a classic size 36 MM DJ (https://www.rolex.com/watches/dateju...6234-0015.html) or the OP Date in 34MM (https://www.rolex.com/watches/dateju...5200-0004.html). I know the DJ will have the updated movement, but the extra power reserve isn't really a concern for me. I have a 7 1/2" wrist and concerned that 34MM maybe a bit small (but was told that they wear pretty big). My 1 yr work anniversary is coming up next month and wanted to pickup a new Rolex but i am confused now. Would either of the 2 watches I pointed out be available/obtainable at AD's or are they going to be super hard to source as well ? My only other option as I see it is going to be from JLC (if I can't find either of these 2 references). Got so sick of asking the AD for watches and they keep saying (no no, its in high demand, no waitlist etc.).

No watch is hard to source. Its a matter of $$$$.

You stump up the $$$ the watch will be at your door tomorrow.

You may also want to consider a DD36, if you liked the 40 but found it to be too heavy.

I only skimmed through your post, but the gist of it seems to imply that you are you're thinking of picking up a piece based primarily on availability... my recommendation is: Don't.

Save and wait for the piece you want. Pay the extra to get it grey if your AD doesn't have it (or, more accurately, won't sell it to you).

Case in point: Get the sub. You won't regret it, and if you don't get it, you won't satisfy the itch.

As above. It comes down to what you want. You don't seem to have fallen for anything yet. If you have enough money for a DD40 you can have anything you want from your prospective Rolex list. You can have a Sub, Sub Date or DJ41 on your wrist tomorrow.

Just go gray if you really want a specific Rolex that the AD can’t/won’t deliver.

I think you will alienate some posters with your wording ie “I find TT repulsive” maybe better to say I’m not in to TT, some posters may not like the references you are looking at but will be respectful of your choice.

I would buy the DD40 without a doubt, and I would get used to the weight, you will not regret it, now if you want a light watch without a doubt the JLC Reverso is a BEAUTY and an excellent option

Are you opposed for preowned? As stated, you can have a preowned sub tomorrow. A sub is a great next Rolex to own.

Ifyou can pull off a DD, get that. What the hell... if you can afford a new DD, by a used sub and a used 36mm DD and keep the rest of the money.

You say you love the OP39. Wish there was a 39mm Datejust. Well today is your lucky day. The DJ41 is 39.5mm. So it will be the perfect watch for you. Has the easylink and more wrist presence. Get it in jubilee. And with a 7.5 inch wrist please don’t get a 34mm watch. I think 36mm will be too small for you too.

The DD40 is closer to 38mm btw. It seems as if you don’t like the weight of it. So I digress. Try the DJ41. You have said you couldn’t try it on yet but you need too. I have a 7.25-7.5 inch wrist and to keep the DJ41 wore a tad small Imo. Seems like you go for the more classic look. On a 7.5 inch wrist the DJ41 will look like a 36mm watch by contrast. Both watches I posted are of a DJ41. I have a pic of the DJ41ned ti mu DJ36 and DJ31 if you would like as well.

The DI41 is only .5mm larger, can’t imagine anything smaller on a 7.5” wrist.

I think trying on a DD 40 is the next step. I've never seen any rap stars complaining that their gold was too heavy.

If you have the means, go for it! But, get what you want- you have my permission to ignore any opinions on TRF you don't agree with!

OP - all watches are obtainable, especially the ones you just mentioned if you're willing to go grey. Is this an option for you or do you only want to buy from an AD?

BTW, my wife would say JLC. She loves her Reverso, and wears it more than her 31 mm DJ.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I didn't mean to offend anyone by my two tone comment, it's just not for me atleast on the submariner a DJ36 two tone with champagne dial i can do. I heard the DJ41 doesn't fit as well on the wrist as the OP39, being as someone with 7.5" wrists i'll see if i can try one on. The DJ36 seems like a great size and the classic proportions of the DJ.

In terms of buying grey market - big no. I talked to people (although not many) that have ended up with either 1) Stolen watch, 2) high end replica (i.e. fake) also no Rolex warranty is a big turn off for me. I like the submariner but not if i can't get one from an AD and to be honest I am starting to look the Date Just + Day Date's more so. I think if i went for a professional series watch i'd want a Explorer (not an Explorer II) but would love if it had a date function at least (but then again that would be taking away from its DNA). In short I've been put off by scalpers, scammers in terms of dealing with Grey market and since this watch would mark an occasion I want to be a new piece with my memories built on it and not someone else's.

The day date in white gold would be fantastic, however solid gold Rolex tend to be pretty heavy and I don't want something thats going to weigh my wrist down.

I am leaning towards DJ and hoping that I can get the one I like without some ridiculous wait. I picked the black dial because I figure those shouldn't be unobtainable or require some ridiculous wait time, and would be a bit more understated than say a two tone with champagne dial (jubilee would be a must for a DJ imo).
