Icon5 Truth or Urban Legend?

Is it true or not that Rolex sends each new US President a Rolex President?

Just Curious...

Don't know but my guess is no. I would think more would have worn them if that was the case.

I'll get on that ASAP!

The only president Im aware of that MIGHT have been given a Rolex President is Dwight D Eisenhower, When Rolex first released the President with the hidden clasp.

Yeah its not something that either party would admit, and since we don't see presidents (other than LBJ) wear them, i tend to doubt it

I thought on jakes Rolex watch blog itunes podcast he talks about this. He said the Rolex tried to give one president one he declined at time of presidency but after wards came back to Rolex asking for it them and they told him to go pound sand.

I also thought that Eisenhower had a date just on a jubilee not on the presidential band? I can not access jakes site picture from my office.

He did receive one as a gift, but it was while he was Commander of NATO, in 1951 I think.

No, the US President does not receive a Rolex from the company.

I think it was 12-19-1950 As that is what is engraved on his case back.

I didn't think Rolex made a model called the President

Perhaps they send the President a President bracelet without the watch, that would explain why none of them have worn it

DDE got his when he was supreme commander of NATO not when he was president. He became president in 1953 if my 29 year old memory serves me correct. He received the watch from Rolex in 1950 I think this is way before my time.

Even if they do it is not the President's to keep, it is a gift to the people of the United States. Presidents, any US Government employee, are not allowed to keep gifts given to them while in office. There is a whole treasure trove of items that have been given as gifts that are stored.

Yeah, run for president, that's great idea! Spend billions to get a free Rolex! Says a lot about how popular these watches are, don't you think?
Best of luck, mate!

The President bracelet got its name because Ike wore it while in the oval office, no? (Or more accurately, when he wasn't playing golf.)
