IMSA Grand Prix @ Road ATL
Great day out at the track! Who else came out from ATL?
I am fairly stupid today...went out without ANY watch on... But a Lambo race + a GT3 Cup race before lunch and now a 6-hr Enduro is great after all the Covid restrictions. Guess who jumped out of his Cup car and into a Trofeo? Dr. Tom! He’s racing today and tomorrow. Due to Covid “bubble” I couldn’t make a visit to the paddock but the new car looks even better. Here’s a shot from his earlier testing at VIR and the Platona made it into the shot too... The new car at speed... credit: JameyPricePhotos Who’s Roger Dubois??? It’s been a good set of races so far - unfortunately just had a super hard hit for a GT3 Lambo with Spencer Pumpelly in it. But he’s fine. Last thing, a Taycan in the wild - I had only seen the threads here but it looks better in person. Yep an expensive base Taycan Turbo one... Sorry for sticker pics being hard to read, you can buy it: https://cc.porsche.com/icc/ccCall.do...bcode=PLISR581 The inside design is clean but rear seats just as small as the old 911 jump seats. Beautiful pics.
I’m out of town this weekend but would have went. Been wanting to go with my son. If you ever want the company of a watch enthusiast (but racing ignoramus) and a toddler, we can plan a (socially distanced) outing one day. |

Wait...they let fans in? I have been so disconnected as the media has lead me to believe sports without fans is normal. I love Road ATL. I need to check there site to look for more events this season.

The Petit is a 10 hr Enduro with the same cars as today’s 6 hr race. This weekend was moved from Watkins Glen due to NY Covid restrictions.

Wow looks like an awesome day out. Dr. Tom!!?? Good for him. That Porsche is beautiful. Apparently the demand is so high Porsche is borrowing employees from Audi (same company) to keep up.

Very nice, Paul! Nothing beats the sounds and smells of a day at the track. It's great to see Dr.Tom and luckily he was ok! Thanks for sharing the Taycan images as well. Did seeing it in person meet any expectations you had after seeing the into online? Either way it's a good looking car

Yep he had a better Race2. Getting the measure of 600+hp Lambo Cup vs. 400+ P-Cup will take at least 1-2 seasons. I know it did for me as I went up the ladder. The Taycan in person looks great - like 1000% beyond the Panamera. But the range is a drawback -200mi in truth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
