Icon20 Blancpain 500 Fathoms

Here is a new soon to be released watch with a helium escape valve and a depth rating of 1,000 meters.

It has a 48mm titanium case.

To me the most striking thing about this watch is the lume of the dial. The sections of the black dial are actually luminous as are revealed only when the watch appears in the dark. This is something I have not seen before.

That is one awesome lume shot. For me Blancpain are one of the very best in the business for lumination. Great photo.

But the one thing that I don't like, is the helium valve-very much imo like the Omega.
I much prefer the valve to be fitted flush with the case like on the SD & DSSD.

I don't care too much for the 10 O'Clock helium valve either.

However, look at the lume on the bezel, that is awesome, something Rolex could definitely take a lesson from with their Deep Sea. It's all good having ceramic, but lume on the bezel would be a huge

Blancpain are clever with lume - they even got this 'Dark Knight' version of the Fifty Fathoms to glow...

What type of lume does Blancpain use?

Does it last like Ball?

I think the watch looks amazing lume wise BUT
I am just wondering what type of lume to see if it
really is any better (length of use in the dark) than
Rolex. If they aren't using tritium like Ball and others
it wont glow all night...

I think it is Superluminova (lots of it) but not sure...
Might post up a question on their forum.

Visiting their dedicated boutique in S/pore in May, so hope to see some cool stuff...

Cheers

the watche's lume and rest of the statics are great but IMHO, very humble opinion actually, I dont like the over-colorful dial styling...may be its more striking in person but white and black on a GREAT sports watch dial isn't something I want in that fashion...but I must say, I love BP FF black knight and the other versions....the 500 fathoms is also a great leap forward but I wud like a little darker tone to it.

1000 meters water resist so I guess that should be 500 fathoms which means

500 fathoms=(nealy) 3000 feet..

plz do correct me cuz I am too tired to google and confirm :)

There is also a GMT version, which was shown at Basel

Check out the movement in the last pic - the winding rotor in the shape of a propeller and the 'bubbles' decoration. Outstanding

Cheers

That new GMT is an awesome looking watch. I love the design of the movement and the propeller. The lumination on these watches is incredible. Do you know the MSRP?

Fabulous Watches!

Very cool looking movement...I like the break from tradition in the styling department...but there is NO WAY i could ever pull off 48mm! I think i would look like a total douche!

A fathom is 6 feet by definition, so 3000 feet.
