For a 60 year old - vintage 18238 or 118235F meteorite?
Getting a watch for my dad's 60th. He likes gold watches, and wears watches in rough engineering environments. He has worn a 126234 and I notice the bracelet rattles more and bezel smoothed out more than the rolexes that I wear. He'll like the gold bracelet and the dial is not important to him. My main concern is value retention - after the Honey Moon years with the watch (like he had with the 126234) he'll likely wanting another watch, and I'd like to choose one with least absolute dollar depreciation so I can sell it to finance another one. I can get the 18238 for$12,000 and the 118235F meteorite $26,000, both no paper. 18238 will of course come in a more polished-out condition. Which one do you think will retain more value? thanks!

Obviously the DD at $12k, with the way gold prices are going, it will likely be worth more in scrap by the time you sell
