AP 15450 37MM Blue Dial - Question
Hello all - longtime lurker and this is my first post, go easy on me!
I'm 29 years old and I'm new to watch collecting. I grew up in the lower class and I've been fortunate to have a great job in high finance now. I live in Toronto, Canada. I currently own a 2017 ND sub 114060 and a 2019 Panerai submersible, both in my name. I'm actively looking for a blue Royal Oak in 37mm (would love any leads if anyone has any!). I also currently don't have any interest in grey, if I'm spending this much money on something, I like for my name to be on things and potentially pass it down to my kids one day. I want to get advice from you guys on how best to go about getting this watch. I'm happy to travel within North America, and happy to wait certainly, but will I even be entertained at various boutiques with no buying history? I've sent messages to almost every dealer in the US and most didn't even reply. The ones that did said nothing this year. Appreciate any guidance that anyone can offer, thanks in advance! |

AP 15450 37MM Blue Dial - Question
If your adamant on getting it from an AD, your chances are slim to none of ever acquiring without buying some other pieces first, and especially if your just calling and emailing.
AP requires you to build a relationship first so either buying pieces or else constantly going into one of their boutiques to “chat”, not email and calls. Also, AP cards don’t have any names on them and when you register online, you can just register the watch to your account using the codes on the card. No one can tell the difference if you bought grey or not, except maybe AP themselves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

NYC botique or bust.
Also, FWIW, there is no name on the AP card, only electronic registration, so "in your name" doesn't really mean the same thing. |

I bought a blue 15400 a few months ago as my first AP and it’s amazing, you’ll love the 15450 when you get it.
The 15400 wasn’t in my name since it was discontinued, but I bought a white and blue diver a few weeks ago (for my 35th bday) and I registered it bnib “in my name”. I bought it from a grey, so don’t disregard Greys just yet. If it’s a must have you’ll forget the over msrp hit and he ecstatic to have it. ( I have zero patience and would rather pay up and have immediately, it’s a problem...) Just my two cents Best of luck!

AP's registration is for warranty purposes and follows the watch, not the person that registered the watch. When you create your first AP account on their site, you'll add a watch to the 'My watches' tab. Each time you buy a new watch then register it and it'll appear in your account. If you sell a watch and the new owner registers it, then it will disappear from your account, if they don't register it then it'll remain in your list. In all cases though the warranty follows the watch.
p.s. Of course though, this way AP knows who has registered the watch from new and when it changes owners (assuming the new owner registers it in their name). I'm sure there's a lot of data mining that AP do or can do with such information. Hopefully it is or will in the future be used to understand the flippers a bit better and thus operate a functional 'black list'. |

As GS posted above about online registration is all true and how it is. If you buy a grey with factory warranty left, you register an AP account online and then add this watch to you down line using the codes on the warranty card. Then you will have what is left of the factory 5 year warranty in your name. The actual warranty card has no pen written section on it so no name, dealer, dates etc. Only info on the card is watch reference, serial number and warranty code to register said watch online to your account.
