15202 50th Anniversary?

I'm considering a 15202 and am debating between buying now on the gray market or waiting to see what AP does for the Jumbo 50th anniversary. Is anyone in the know about whether AP plans to release a 50th anniversary model, and what this might entail?

From a cosmetic perspective, I think the current 15202 would be pretty tough to improve on (think I prefer it to the original Jumbo), but it sure would be nice to see the monobloc case construction come back as that was such a defining feature in the original.

If there's an opportunity for another limited edition, you can almost be certain they will take advantage of that.

AP and Omega. :)

I don’t think anyone really in the know on what AP’s plans are will be posting about it here.

Hysterical and, no doubt, spot on.

My guess for 50th anniversary royal oak:

- Grey ceramic case and wristband (similar to the GSOTM Speedmaster)
- Same dial as 15202bc
- mono bloc
- limited to 50 pcs and asian market only
- Other markets: Buy a 11.59 already and admire the watch above on hodinkee

FHB be like

Unless you have some serious firepower, then any 50th anniversary Jumbo will be unobtainable.

I guess I'm just speculating but my thought was more along the lines that AP would update the production 15202 for the 50th anniversary just like they did in 2012 for the 40th anniversary, rather than (or perhaps in addition to) some ultra-limited special edition. What I really mean to say is I'd hate to buy one on the 49th anniversary if there's likely going to be an update to the model on the 50th.

Sorry I'm abit new, but i thought the 15202 is already monobloc case construction ?

Any photo of the monobloc case ?

It was monobloc case until they decided the margin is way too low so they had to cut production costs in 2017.

If your only way of acquiring a 15202 is to go grey then I wouldn’t worry about a possible 50th anniversary model. Also if you’re ready to buy the watch now then I’d do so as a 50th anniversary model is 2 years away, I asked about this a month ago.

Thanks! Yes, I would expect a new iteration to take a couple more years to come out - am I off base thinking that in 2022 AP would likely release the next production version of the 15202ST? I'm not necessarily looking to have a limited edition model, but am more just thinking that I'd hate to buy the watch right before the next generation gets released (as I would want to keep this one in my collection forever).

I am working on a list of actual AP watches that are available for a normal person - I would say it's less than ten (maybe closer to 5) if you don't count the different color variation of 42mm ROO and Codes.

Yes, this is a big hit on original design that went under the radar... is it applied to all 15202 models - red, yellow, white gold, and ti/pt also?

And who knows? If you want a 15202 the sooner you buy it, the better.
