Question on a Rolex Dial

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to see if paying 2500 for an authentic Rolex dial designed for 116618lb or 116613lb (Bluesy) is a fair price. This dial is still in the blister pack. I am not sure what dials cost, but I thought they would be cheaper than that (I could be wrong). I only found 1 in the marketplace which I suspect that this is a hard to find part. TIA

Do you want to swap a smurf dial for a sunburst or vice versa on your watch ?

These are far and few between on the market so there is no consensus on price, one could go for 2k and 6 mo a year later another might pop up for 3k.

It’s not like an aluminium insert that has a ballpark figure where dozens are sold per week

Yes. I have the lacquer blue dial, but I like the sunburst as well. I just want the option to switch back and forth. Now that the watch is discontinued, I believe the dial will be harder and harder to find. But does 2500 seems about right for the real deal? I see too many fakes out there especially on ebay. Only one I found was on chrono24 and its in italy (well rated seller with a lot of positive feedback in the US)

Prices had been on the rise recently, so unlikely you will find them much cheaper than that. As a reference, I bought in 2016 a new Daytona WG Panda dial on a sealed blister here on the forum and paid $1000, same dial right now is north of $2500.

If you want it and can afford it probably a good move to buy one of them while you can

Ok... gotta confess....I pulled the trigger already. Just playing Monday morning quarterback. I was just curious if I overpaid because I really do not know what the dial market is. To my knowledge, rolex makes it harder to obtain dials to AD repair shops.

you make it sound like changing the dial is like changing a strap, think it over.

how often would you go "back and forth" ?

Not often at all. However, I like to have the option and since the watch is now discontinued, I figure it will be harder and harder to find an authentic dial. Its a lot cheaper than paying 35k to get the sunburst watch if I want to switch it up lol. Im trying to keep my total watch collection to a minimum.... this hobby is expensive . The lacquer dial was produced for only 4 years and you cant find that anywhere unless its on the watch.

anyway fair enough, will you get an independent to do the swap, or during rsc service?

Have to be independent. Once you swap a dial out its gone rolex takes it. I would never see the lacquer dial again.
