I would go the other route. Pay 1k more than the 2019 for a brand new one.

I'd get the 2017. Unless the condition is better on the 2019. Then it's up to condition and what scratches are you willing/not willing to live with. Or if you want a 2019 watch for some reason, such as specific country code, dealer name, date or just year. For me none of those are the case so I'd get the 2017.

If the difference is just 1k between 2019 and new, I'd also go that route.

Don't care at all for something like Rolex where plenty of independent watchmakers can service them to a good standard.

If it was a complicated watch with some weird complication unique to the brand then I would be more concerned.

So an interesting turn of events. I decided to pull the trigger on the 2017 116500 on Wednesday. I asked for Saturday delivery and it finally came in (it was supposed to be delivered by 12:00, but actually came around 1:15).

Opened up the box and happened to see the warranty card dated Sept 2019. A bit confused, I made sure the serial number on the warranty card matched that on the rehaut. Sure enough, it does!

Checked the TS's website and the 2019 is still available...

The TS must have made a mistake in my favor. I ended up with the 2019 for the price of the 2017!

If it is a 3rd party warranty, pretty much nothing. If it is a RCS warranty, a bit more, but on the other hand, a RCS service is something I quickly do when I buy a watch.

I have never had to used the warranty on a Rolex watch.

Only ever had to use it for a Ball Fireman 11 and the agent in Sydney refused the warranty because they decided I had manually wound the ETA movement too often???

Guess who now won’t recommend or buy Ball watches?

Did the seller’s bill of sale also match the warranty card’s s/n?

It might be worth an email to the seller to validate the transaction, and that the mix-up is acceptable to him/her...

I've already had the watch fitted and have been wearing it. The TS now has the other 116500 unlisted. Not sure if they took it down or if it was purchased.

Also, the bill of sale did not specify the serial number.

If its authentic Rolex, no worries about the warranty even if they had it extended to 5 years.

zero value, the warranty card is only for the sake of completeness.

Sounds as if both watches had the warranty card available, just different dates.

And apparently the card is of worth some value during the warranty period. Per another current thread, warranty is null without the actual card itself.

Even if the watch is 1-3 years old (like the 2017 and 2019 in this thread), you’d still have them sent to RSC? Seems like a waste unless found to be losing time or not functioning as expected.
