Insuring a SS Daytona (116520)
It is not clear to me how to have this watch properly insured.
The watch is not made anymore as we know, the latest version has an MSRP of $12,500. My son has this watch and the appraisal done years ago was for $12,500 but we all know the watch cannot be bought for that price. If the watch is lost or stolen, his insurance co (Jewelers Mutual) would only pay the appraised amount of $12,500 leaving us to kick in a few thousand to buy another one. Do I need to get a jeweler to give me an appraisal at market value or am I out of luck? |

Get a new value and submit
I know I have a few where there is a gap. I refresh values each year but figure I will just cover the gap if that happens. It should only be a k or 2 |

I have jeweler's mutual. They are great about insuring for market value.
You just need an appraisal stating the market value to submit to them. I think I paid 20$ to get my Hulk appraised at 22k. |
