I'm in.
I bring a "spare" with me to work everyday, so I will just wear it that day.
My guess is, no one in my office will notice anyway.

18! Manhood. I was long gone by 18, but I have the feeling that my current crop of kids will never leave. Tell you son happy birthday. Will he have to register with the Government? Back when I turned 18, you got legally drunk, registered for the draft, then watched the tele waiting for you number to show up.

Joe, I believe you still need to register with the Selective Service. I know my son had to sign up in 2002!!!

He won't need to register for anything.

I'd bet he's been on the booze since sixteen!!!!!!!!!!!

In the UK, you get your national Insurance number at 16, your driving licence at 17 and your bus pass at 60.

If you get a telegram from the queen you're doing really really well!

Thanks Joe I will pass it on to David. No draft, national service over here, abolished in the 1963 much to my Dad's relief as he was a serving army officer at the time. David is a very sensible lad unlike his Dad, does not really drink and despite our attempts to get him to throw a party just wants a low key family celebration having his favorite meal chicken pie. His reasoning is that he needs all the study time to get the grades so he can get the best university. He wants to study law. 18 does not seem to be fun and frivolity anymore!!! Where did we go wrong ?
My eldest son does like a drink, just come in after being out all night!!

Aye Aye Chicken Pie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That boy needs a kick up the backside...studying for law???????????
That just aint right.
At that age I couldn't remmeber who I was or where I lived.

Those were the days, being dropped off outside casualty by strangers, laying face up in a ditch looking at the stars trying to ascertain if your heart is still beating, waking up in a field somewhere in the middle of Fenland and not knowing what direction home is, offering your little sister all the money in your bank account for a blood transfusion.

I wish I'd studied law

Someone said it.

I had to read all the way through to makes sure someone else did not say it but

At 6:30 p.m. on the evening of April 20, 1889, Hitler was born in the small Austrian village of Braunau Am Inn just across the border from German Bavaria

Local radio station here used to have the daily "bong hit" at 4:20pm. They had prerecorded sounds of the bubbling gurgling sound of a bong and the deep breath, little bit of coughing and every once in a while the sound of someone barfing because they did it wrong. I think they stopped it 10 years ago.....

I remember a similar thread a while back. I studied up on wikipedia, brought it up at the dinner table and my 15 year old son was blown away his old dad knew what four twenty meant. I love keeping them on their toes!
