Icon5 Rolex 16713 rootbeer

Question.
1990 RootBeer 16713. Says GMT Master on the dial.
But paperwork says it's a GMT Master II and brochure if the time also mentioned it as a GMT Master II.

The working movement is of a normal GMT.

And it's a slim watch.

Should i be worried?

Any way if actually checking what the watch is... Remove strap and look at ref on the case?

Is there any special history to the watch around that period of time?

Tia

Rolex 16713 rootbeer

Post pics of dial and case reference engraving...

The 1671x should be GMT-Master II. The 1675x should be GMT-Master.

It will be interesting to see if you have a 3185 or a 3186 movement in it. Transition yr timepieces are fun to look into because you can see little hidden treasures in those pieces from fonts, dials, cases as well as movement changes. You should have a blast looking into it. Congrats on your new find. There are plenty of articles out there about what to look for.

Check clasp code is within a year or two of the case. You’re going to want to get it opened to see the back of the dial to know the feet are not resoldered, or worse, dial dots.

What do you mean about the feet?

The watch was first bought in Jersey in 1990, then bought 2nd hand in '91.

Originally customs duty had to be paid by the original owner when he brought bit back to Bolton/England.

As others have said if it’s a 90’s 16713 it should say GMT Master II. It also appears to be a plexi crystal in that pic. It should not have a plexi crystal. As your own pic shows the case says 16753. I believe they stopped making these in 1988.

I agree with others here. You have a 16753... I’d be questioning the “paperwork”. Check the print date of your brochure, it’s probably a later one.

The reality of it is we can all give you our opinions and some even educated guesses but at the end of the day if you really want to know what you have then RSC is where you should be taking it. Whether it’s a legit 16713 or a 16753 or God forbid a counterfeit “RSC” is where to go for all the answers.

It's been to Goldsmiths and RSC years ago for a service... never any issue with them.

It’s a 16753 from the case but with 16713 paper work, I would be careful with this one. If it doesn’t make sense, I would stay away.
