Waiting is one thing, not being able to purchase a watch is another. If you have no relationship with an AD, and you walk in at random and ask for a SS Daytona, it’s a good thing you don’t mind waiting, because you will be for a very very long time.

For me, the answer is easily no. I don't feel as if I'm depriving myself or somehow not living life to its fullest extent simply because I don't immediately buy everything I want regardless of cost.
I would agree if you could guarantee the wait to be only two years, for example a new SS DAYTONA

Enjoyed reading this whole thread. Lots of different perspectives. Conclusion is no wrong or right views. Do what’s best for you and don’t begrudge the person who feels the opposite of what you do.

I used to have a thing against grays but have come around to the realization that they are a necessary part of the ecosystem. The grays mop up the unsold inventory in good times and bad times. They help support resale values. And if you’re in the anti value camp just ask Panarai, Hublodt and Breitling how important resale value is.

It’s a big watch world and one has to keep an open mind. Do I get steamed when I see a picture like the one a friend of mine sent me this morning of a guy on IG with a briefcase full of 18 ceramic Daytona’s? Of course but that’s the way it is, there will always be those that can and will abuse the system.

Ignore it and move on. Buy what you can and like from whoever you can or want to.

So when I see one of my friends pay 29K for his white DaytonaC I thank him for supporting the increased value of mine when I get the call from my AD for one. He has plenty of cash and little patience. Doesn’t make him or the Gray a bad guy.

That’s what keeps the seconds hand going round.
