Rolex has reached a new low
So here in Singapore I visited the two most reputable Rolex ADs, just to stop in and say hello to my SAs. There were no words for what I saw. And by what I saw, I mean NOTHING. I’ve seen pretty sad Rolex ADs in Bangkok, Manila, HK and even Jakarta the past few years, but this was by the far the worst I’d ever seen in any country. Nothing but a few two tone DJs in various sizes and dials and just a few lady DJs. The display cases were practically empty.
Now I get that xmas just passed and perhaps many were bought over the holidays but wow, didn’t expect to see it this bad. My one SA who I’ve been dealing with since 2013 said he’d never seen stock this low. I get that demand is as high as ever and stock might also be as low as ever, but both stores looked extremely sad. And we’re in a pandemic coupled with a global recession. Imagine what it would look like if the economy were thriving. I suppose it was no better the last time I visited a PP or AP dealer last November. Just pointing out a casual observation about the current state of Rolex on my neck of the woods. Probably just as bad as worldwide. |

Yawn - do we really need yet another thread on this age old subject that’s been unchanged for 2 years now.

absolutely. Also worth noting that demand is currently high from what I’m hearing as people look to treat themselves to cheer themselves up, and they have money saved from holidays/daily living etc. And of course supply must have been impacted by the pandemic. We should take time to remember that anyone looking to spend ££££’s on a watch is in s very privileged position, and we should be grateful that we are healthy and financially secure above all else.

I don't know what the stock situation is at my AD because the country is locked down and when open (which they are not at the moment) they were letting customers in by appointment only. Frankly, I don't care how many watches my AD has got. My only wish is that all the staff stay safe and well until the situation has eased.
There is still some business going on behind the shutters. |

If it's madhouse out there and we repeat same rhetoric in here, we're bound to go mad at some stage. No one's oblivious to what's happening out there, and it'll soon be a mental health timebomb (if not already), which is why it's more important than ever to take our minds off it for a second and talk about watches on a watch forum. --- To the OP, I've seen worse here in Aus at one point early last year, absolutely nothing on show. In recent days, it's pretty well stocked with DJs. |

Its no different to the past few years. Especially considering its just past Christmas and presumably logisitcs are a mess with the deathly virus affecting many countries.
Lunar New Yr coming up in just over a month too, so perhaps people stock up on goodies for that. |

This answer could be the response to absolutely any statement not involving COVID/LIFE and DEATH. Where do you draw the line? "Hi bob, did you see the Football game?" "I Think some of you guys got to remember there is a worldwide pandemic, and at the moment much more important things to worry about than football. As at the moment the most precious thing we have is life." "Hi joe, the weather has been crazy lately!" "I think some of you guys got to remember there is a worldwide pandemic, and at the moment much more important things to worry about than the weather. As at the moment the most precious thing we have is life." As a Moderator on a watch forum - by your precedent here, no threads should be allowed that aren't as impactful as life or death. Let's ditch the holier than thou responses for 2021 and let us escape the harshness of reality on this forum where we can relieve some stress, and talk about watches.... even the agonizingly redundant topics like the paucity of Rolex supply...

To the OP I live in SG and pretty much has been the case for the past 12 months here. It’s very rare even to find a day date to try (40mm or 36mm) absolutely lowest stock everywhere. And VS other counties I know for instance in the UK if you phone around outside of London you will find at least a couple of full gold sports models. You know at least something interesting. But absolutely nothing here in Singapore. Completely agree with earlier posts... lucky to be thinking about watches during this time. But since we are on the topic of Singapore I thought I’d weigh in...

There should be a sticky thread for “I went to an AD and the case was empty”, and everyday hundreds of people can pop in and reply “+1”.

I haven’t seen to my AD in quite a while due to lock downs here. It wasn’t great before, but I don’t recall seeing things here as bad as you describe.

They’re at the AD, just not in the display cases. They’re in the back held for VIPs.

Of course there’s more important things to worry about that watches. I have a family that’s most important to me. My point is that life is short, and we learned that from this pandemic. And everyone on this forum I’m assuming loves and shares a passion for watches. It’s just irritating that we can’t enjoy buying, sometimes trading up or down to get what we want and enjoy the process of it. That’s all. It’s not that serious and believe I don’t take it that seriously. It was actually my first time visiting an AD in nearly a year.

We will all come back to TRF and every other "not important" forum once the pandemic has cleared. See you in a few months. |

I feel sorry for the salespeople that just sit behind empty show cases.
