I was 40. It was a 15th wedding anniversary from my wife. I'd always wanted one but would never buy it for myself.

Bought my first (well my wife bought it for me) at 29 inherited a 1675 at 28 first real intro to Rolex was at 26 when I found the 1675 going through my wife’s uncles belongs to pass on to her mother. I found this hoaxy looking Rolex all old a dirty looking funny thing I almost threw it in the trash as it had the hollow riveted bracelet and the acrylic through me off as well. Good thing I hung on to it.

One important modifier. . .

You should weed out the children who live at home and pretend to be adults. It's a really common thing I see in my car forums (BMW ///M and Porsche) where kids buy toys they could never have if living a real life.

I was 30 when I first bought mine, but wanted one since I was 25-26 years old.

1970 - 14 years old - My grandparents went to Switzerland and went to the Rolex factory. They bought me a SS SUB. Unfortunately I was jumping off a boat and when I landed on the dock the band snapped and the watch went in the water. We never were able to recover it. I've worn a DJ for 30 years but I just bought a SS GMTIIc as a rememberance to my grandparents it now sits on my wrist as my everyday watch. The DJ is not getting much wrist time. Some sad memories but some good memories.

Since I've answered this numerous times here, I thought I would have fun with it this time.... I was 112 years old when I got my Rolex and I had just finished my Jedi training with master Yoda .

First Rolex

I was 55--I got it last year. I walked out my front door and a small box was sitting on the porch and it had about $50 in postage and insurance on it. I opened it up and there was a 1971 Rolex GMT Master and a note from an old high school friend that said, "Dear Richard--I got a new watch and thought you might like to have this one". Well, YEAH! My old friend Ben went into the Air Force right after we graduated high school in 1971 and the first thing he did after he got a decent paycheck or two was to buy the Rolex. I always remembered it well because he showed it to me the first time he got home on leave and he always wore it during the intervening years.

I called him to ask if he was dying or just going nuts and he told me there was no use for the Rolex to sit around in a drawer. I can't remember what his new watch is but I need to find out--it must be a beauty to give up the GMT. Anyway, that's a friend for you! I have another friend with a Rolex and he's about to jump off a ledge over this bad economy. Mabe he'll leave me another one!

I was 19
Working part time for Bailey Banks & Biddle
First watch at 19 was a 6239 Cosmo
Second watch at 20 a Day-Date President
Then my 3rd Rolex at 30 (the one mentioned below) and after that an avalanche of Rolex watches
as I was trully "sick" with the marque.
