Rolex Appraisal
Hi Watchtechs,
I recently had two watches appraised at Rolex USA in NYC. What exactly do the techs do for the appraisal process? Do you just take the bracelet off and write down model, serial and bracelet numbers? Do you actually open the case back and check the movement? I paid $162 per watch and wanted to know what was done. Thanks. |

I'm not sure that "Techs" have anything to do at all with the appraisal process..
Typically, appraisals are for insurance purposes so the value number is almost always for a new model replacement.. Most Dealers/Jewelers will do that but I didn't know that an RSC would provide such a service..

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what the letter came back with. The cost of replacing the watch with a new one. I checked with a few places and since the cost for the appraisals were the same, I decided to go with the Rolex USA letterhead.

I just had my Sub appraised on Saturday. He just checked the serial number, and looked up the cost to replace. My AD does it for free. Took him about 5 min. Sorry to hear it cost you so much.

My second generation watchmaker of 32 years will do them for 40$ each.
