Yep. Ordered a Datejust 3 weeks ago. Hit it off with the salespeople and talked watches for a while. Got a surprise call for a Batman on Tuesday. I was floored - I'm a new customer. Picked it up Tuesday and wearing it now, considering it late 60th birthday present (August). Datejust came in and I picked it up today. Wrapped for final delivery from Santa per wife!

I just wanted to add that there is nothing to gawk over with this watch in the flesh. It is a highly legible tool watch that wears flat and is comfortable for its size. It doesn't have any deep glossy features or inky black dial and ceramic bezel to adore. It simply gives you the time and could do it in extremely bad conditions. If you like shiny things (and I do) I would only get it if I also had a sub or similar.
Totally disagree. It’s a totally understated and timeless piece

Weird, because I agree with you and I'm on the list for one.

The Polar saves its best trick for lower light conditions. The hands and indices have a lot of lume in them. In lower light levels the blue lumes glow beautifully and cast a blue glow on the dial. It's gorgeous.

One of the other big attractions for me is the retro aesthetic. I think the current model would look silly with a ceramic bezel. And it would look like everything else. If it goes ceramic in the next update I think the black and white 216570 will become cult classics.

I have my Polar and it's a keeper. Rolex can do what they like with it now., as far as I am concerned. Since I bought mine, the grey asking price (not necessarily the selling price) has risen in the region of about 50%. Not the behaviour I would expect from an easy to get or unpopular watch.

My only qualm is yes it’s only a small amount bigger, but I can’t help but feel it looks a little too round/pancake on my wrist compared to Sub/GMT. I really really hope they go down to 41 for the 50th anniversary next year

Get it now, prices going up and next year the new one arrives, which will be harder to get than the actual EX2.

The Explorer II in either dial color has always been a great watch and somewhat of a sleeper in the Rolex line-up. I own both and am always drawn to the Polar but the black dial is great and could be a one and only if pushed. Get one.

Right, people (including me) have been singing the praises of the Explorer II for over a decade! Great watch, but I don’t think it’s going to suddenly surge in popularity

I picked up mine in January. The AD i got it from is a very large chain and gets a lot of Rolex each year. That being said, they only received 2 polar Exp II this whole year. If you like the watch buy it. You may not get another chance with how crazy things are getting. Just my opinion of course.

Depends where you’re from i guess.

I’ve been waiting for one for a couple of months now, and the seller is my friend

I see them fairly regularly here in Vegas... but we have six AD's in a walk distance to.

I put in a deposit last month. I am hoping to get the polar before April. Wishful thinking?

Definitely possible. I ordered a few weeks back and it came in 10 days later. I do think I was extremely lucky, but you could be too.

I have to agree with nearly everything you have said here, mine too in a bona fide keeper and I adore it. It was my first Rolex and I managed to buy it following a period of hard work, promotion and reward so it holds a special place not just because it’s awesome!

In regards to what you said about lower light conditions, I too love the lume and the blue looks stunning against the pure white dial. But I never choose to wear it after dark as I feel under artificial light the watch becomes fairly ordinary. Get this thing under natural sunlight and that's where its true beauty comes alive
